Driving Ms. Doomsy

I don't particularly enjoy these "spotlight" posts, and they detract from the point that /coronavirus is filled with these people, not just a couple crazies.
But when I end up with a single user featured in every thread I make for an entire week, I can't really ignore it.
Meet Ms. Bell: she's a baby boomer, she has a housekeeper, she knows science is wrong, and she's currently averaging 10 /coronavirus posts a day.

I have noticed that science is frequently wrong, and the more "consensus" is involved, the wronger it is.

So the CDC has been fully compromised by politics and there isn't much point in listening to their guidance. Even though I happen to think they are right this week, I'm pretty sure they were wrong last week and ridiculous.

It feels like betrayal, like getting stabbed in the back by a family member. When a betrayal is this unimaginably evil, you don't see it coming and you are shocked when you realize what they did to you, not by accident, but by plot.

"Acceptable risk" is weasel words for "certain people are expendable if I can get more money".

Ms. Bell on empathy:

Superficial people hate masks because they think attractiveness is their only asset and facial expressions are an adequate substitute for intelligence.

I just don't think it is a big deal to wear a mask. It's a tiny, trivial little thing. Some people will gladly do it forever.
The downsides are assaults on vanity and egocentric definitions of "freedom".

The primary concern is "lack of empathy". People who display blatant lack of empathy are people I am no longer willing to tolerate. History has shown, that is how you identify the people who are evil and wrong.

You don't feel sorry for anybody but yourself.

People don't like to wear masks because it interferes with being a public asshole. Who are these people? Unclean.

Who is foolish and dangerous? Look in a mirror. This pandemic is real, it has killed 200,000 people, and winter is coming.

There is a cohort of tr0lls who are trying to convince people to give up and be reckless and put themselves in danger. What can we do? Out-troll them.

Ms. Bell on hospitals:

This is a very scary article! These children are very sick, weeks or months after being exposed to Covid and recovering. They were healthy before, some are now in intensive care. Seventy sick children is not "statistically insignificant".

The disaster is here, and they are going to get sick, and their guns aren't going to do them a bit of good.

It doesn't matter how many people agree with you, spreading disease is still wrong.

You need your helper bacteria in your gut, whether you have covid or not, but it sounds like things can get really hairy if you have covid. I might be inclined to skip the Rx. But keep an eye on the tooth socket and if it looks infected, then take it. Also, don't get medical advice from people on reddit.

If you go to the hospital with flu, you can catch covid in the hospital and get double sick.

You don't want to get the flu! You might have to go to the hospital and get exposed to covid and become a twindemic statistic.

Ms. Bell on civics:

Slap a $10,000 fine on anybody who interferes with a testing team. Being a obstinate disease-spreading louse should cost you.

For some people, their actual marriage is going to be shitty, because they are so selfish and clueless. The only good thing about their marriage is the wedding, where they cash in and get a bunch of expensive presents. After their bridezilla exhibition kills a bunch of people, they settle in to a life of low-level squabble punctuated by occasional drunken fights. They are broke, they cheat on each other, their kids hate them, and the whole family is miserable.
They would have been a miserable family regardless of the circumstances of the wedding, but at least by having a big wedding they managed to be the center of attention for a day and also score some presents. See how that works? Why should they give up their one chance for a great day knowing the rest of their lives is just going to suck because they are shitty people marrying other shitty people.

During the great depression, we put people to work in the Civilian Conversation Corps, and we built Hoover Dam. We didn't supplement people's jobs as cocktail servers and craps dealers.

Just shutter all the casinos and pay all the unemployed people for the duration of the pandemic.

So now our tax money is supposed to subsidize casinos? GTFO, we do NOT have to do that. Let them fail, let rich people lose money, let other rich people buy the properties at a discount. Who cares?

Don't kid yourself that drug use in college has any benefits to the user. It doesn't. Stay straight, put your nose to the grindstone, and learn something. Or else quit wasting everybody's time and money and go home.

College is a privilege. It is not an excuse for bad behavior. Those people who think otherwise can gtfo, and go home and flip burgers and reflect on the missed opportunities they squandered for substance abuse and sex.

I don't want to subsidize idiots who think school is about partying. You are so ignorant, and so stubborn about hoarding your lack of knowledge, you don't even seem like college material.

The day the danger passes is going to be a day of dancing in the streets. Those of us who strictly followed the recommendations are going to have the most fun celebrating of all.

Quarantine is as old as civilization. It is mentioned in the bible. Of course it works. It didn't work this time because half the nation didn't take it seriously, obviously because of lack of leadership.
It was not the policy that was the ineffective. It was the unpatriotic attitude of the people who refused to cooperate that destroyed the effectiveness of the quarantine.
Shame on those people. They brought our country low.

Ms. Bell on fearmongering:

You can't provide any evidence that there was widespread fear of bodies in the street, because it DIDN'T HAPPEN.

somebody is wrong, either me or the cadre of malcontents. So far, the evidence is on my side. Unless somebody supplies better proof, we can assume the people accusing this sub of unwarranted hysteria are just making it up, pulling nonsense out of thin air, spreading fake news, talking out of their hats, and are full of baloney.

There is a cadre of malcontents who accuse people of taking positions they never took, and exaggerating their reactions and calling it fear porn. But this narrative is simply made up. It's the precaution-deniers who are the ones actually saying ridiculous things

Why would anybody say the healthcare system would go into "complete collapse"? That doesn't sound realistic at all.

I have seen reports of a death rate of 1-2%. I have not seen any reports that "everyone will die" and I have not met anybody who believes that or said it.
Normally I'd post examples of each of the things Lady MacBell claims never happened, but...look at what subreddit you're in.

Ms. Bell on discourse:

don't worry about down votes. Karma is an illusion and the points don't matter.

I can't believe how the sensible people get down-voted around here and the reckless people get upvoted.

That is very rude of you and contributes nothing to the discussion. It's typical of a certain mindset, though. "If you don't agree with me it means there is something wrong with you". No, that is not the case. There is nothing in particular wrong with me. My opinion is justified based upon the facts present in this discussion.

You mad bro?

This meme was not created or spread by a grandmother. It was made by someone else and attributed to grandmothers. As a grandmother myself, I think the sentiment is idiotic. I also think it is shameful people are blaming this stuff on grandmothers, who neither created nor posted this stupid low-effort attempt to get a rise out of people.

Ms. Bell off her meds:

Have you noticed how all the clothes look the same these days? Everybody has to wear leggings and tee shirts and hoodies that all look the same. Fashion didn't used to be like that. You used to be able to find things that were fabulous.

YSK about a demonic eyelid parasite called "demodex". It burrows into your oil ducts during the day and comes out at night to frolic in your lash line. It will attack you mercilessly, causing blepheritis and leading to blindness. Virtually everybody will get this if they live long enough. If you google "tea tree oil for eye mites" you get a lot of support for this remedy.
ffs people don't put fucking tea tree oil on or near your eyes. can we please get this awful advice taken down? this is actually dangerous

Special shout-out to "real human being" Torrente (not his actual username, but close enough). His comments aren't especially egregious; he mainly uses giant paragraphs to imply knowledge. What's really absurd is the subreddits he chooses to participate in. Here's a partial list:
/Coronavirus
/COVID19
/CoronavirusWA
/CoronavirusCA
/CoronavirusMa
/FloridaCoronavirus
/CoronavirusUS
/CoronavirusFrance
/CoronavirusDACH
/coronabr
/coronanetherlands
/Coronavirusmexico
And, of course, the free karma subreddits. And his own personal subreddit that no one visits.
All within the last 30 days. Because it's a month old account.
Because that's totally something a regular, rational human being does.

For Disguised as Friend

Foe Disguised as Friend
2016: her; 23, living with her mother, mother’s husband, brother and husband, never worked, lived in California. Me: 27, living alone in Florida, working multiple jobs and going to school.
So in 2016 I became friends with a female (we met in 2013), she was married. She would lie about her life, which considering I only had her talking in my ear; I was foolish to believe. She said her husband didn’t care about her, that she was irrelevant, unimportant, invisible. I would inquire about her family considering they lived with them and she would tell me that her family cared more about her husband than her.
My empathy and sympathy got to me and I felt bad. I experienced multiple life’s worth of pain and I had never been one to see others in pain and not try to help.
I thought our friendship had grown with time and we became friends. I considered her my best friend, but only FRIEND.
At the end of 2016 she asked me “can I ask you something without making it weird” I replied “of course” She told me “do you love me?” It took me aback, and I replied “why do you ask?” She said “because I love you” I replied “don’t say it unless you mean it”
(Before this “friend” I used to believe in “love” and that “love” actually meant something so I was extremely careful using it and never wanted people using it towards me like they do a pair of shoes or some food)
Our “friendship” was rocky - whenever there was an inconsistency, and I’d ask about it; she would ghost or stonewall.
She made me feel like she was the only one that understood me. She even told me “you’re the only one I’m 100% myself with” She learned and knew of my experiences in life and many times over she said nobody else would understand me, that her mother would never understand me.
[sorry if I’ve gone off track, let me get back]
In 2017 I pursued an opportunity with Tesla, I moved to California, when selecting where in California (San Diego or Fremont, CA) I couldn’t help but think of my best friend who I’ve grown close with, all the times she expressed pain that she experienced by her husband and family, the times she would send me pictures of her “cutting” herself. I moved to San Diego, knowing how it feels to be alone and fighting battles with no one around...
She seemed excited, tried to get me to become friends with her husband which confused me because I can’t be friends with someone that is emotionally abusing my friend; she told me many times “you have to become friends with him if you’re going to live in San Diego and to be accepted by my family” - she asked me to lie. I told her “I can’t be friends with someone who is treating my friend badly. Why do you want me to be friends with him? I’d rather not be friends than lie.”
A few months rolled by and I moved to San Diego, upon my arrival she called me up to tell me how excited her mother was and that they planned on going bowling which made me feel uncomfortable; I told her I didn’t want it to be a “big” deal; she said that we would all go to a casino. This still had me uneasy, and I told her “idk if it’s a good idea to meet everyone all at once, I’m afraid of being overwhelmed, can’t we just meet like one by one” - her response was that her mother was looking forward to it, so I felt bad and sucked it up for her mother’s sake. We all met at the Casino, I observed as I have always observed people; her husband didn’t seem all that bad of a guy, he showed love and affection. I knew that in-front others how significant others can be vs in privacy; but I still asked her about it - she replied “I know, he never does that, it was weird to me.”
They invited me to her mother’s husbands graduation party at a beach about a month later; this is where I really thought I f*cked up. I hadn’t eaten all day, and I brought alcoholic beverages; and I remember observing everyone when I played corn hole , my thought was ‘how could nobody see the pain my friend is in’ - and it was at this point my mind shot into my past, it was like my physical self was there but my mind was reacting to things in my past.
Long story short - I F*CKED UP
The following day I apologized to every single person; she forgave me. Her brother forgave me. Her family forgave me. This was the first time in my life that anyone’s accepted me - for the good and bad...
June2017 About two weeks later, she invited me to her cousins condo; I told her I wasn’t going to drink, I didn’t care if they did but I wasn’t going to. Her cousin had her best friend there, and she had me; they asked me to bring the drinks which I did, and since we were going to be in the hot tub of the condo complex, I picked up large SMART waters, I insisted that they hydrate which I was made fun of for by them. I felt a little embarrassed but I tried not make too much of it. We must’ve been in the hot tub for hours which my “friend” would continually tell me how her cousin wanted me which I wondered ‘why’re you’d telling me this? I don’t think she wants you to be telling me, that’s her business’ but finally we were able to get out, her cousin and her best friend left ahead of us and she whispered to me “meet me in the bathroom once they’re out of sight” - I was uncomfortable but she was intoxicated so I was careful because if everything she had shared with me throughout the friendship was true, I didn’t want to upset her.
When they left, and my “friend” went into the bathroom I stayed outside of the bathroom, stood there for a while when I heard her cousins best friends voice, I pretended like I didn’t know where his voice was coming from so I pretended to look around to buy myself some time, and thank god I did because by the time her cousins friend left, she came out of the bathroom and we headed upstairs.
She and her cousin went to her cousins mother’s room to do whatever females do and I found refuge on the outdoor patio talking with her cousins best friend, up until her cousin came out “ ———— wants you to give her a massage” I asked “huh?” And she repeated herself and couldn’t pretend like I hadn’t heard her. So I figured okay, we’ll talk and I’ll go home, but when I got to the room she was on her stomach still in her bathing suit and asked for a massage; I was uncertain but I thought that’s what friends do, I didn’t want to be a bad friend, this is the first person that’s understood me, so I was willing to just give a massage, she told me to lock the door and I figured well her cousins best friend is here so kind of makes sense.
I gave her a massage and then she wanted me to turn off the lights, I obliged, and I asked her because I had never been in this situation before “uh do you want me to go home, cause I can go home?” She told me she wanted to sleep, and considering she was my best friend, and she’s here with her cousin and cousins best friend, I didn’t want to be a bad friend and leave my friend there all by herself. So i took off my shirt and I laid as far left as possible since she was on the right side of the bed. I tried falling asleep, and then her cousin knocked on the door and holy crap, I felt like an idiot, trying to put my shirt back on thinking to myself ‘oh for fcks sake, hurry up, this probably looks bad, and it’ll look even worse the longer you take, for fcks sake the tshirt is on inside out, screw it!’ And I unlocked the door, her cousin came and laid in my original spot, putting me in the middle.
As her cousin was talking and I was responding, my mind going crazy, screaming at me ‘GTFO if there you f*cking idiot, RUN and don’t look back’ - all of a suddenly that screaming was interrupted by my “friend” groping my junk, sliding her hands in my shorts and stroking - ‘really? Your cousin is right there! Wtf?!’ So I had to shift my body, not wanting to make a scene, I was beyond uncomfortable, her cousin was trying to talk to me while my “friend” is going to town with her hand with my junk and carrying a conversation and attempting to not react or show any uncomfortableness is extremely hard. I accidentally said “idk” quickly when her cousin asked “should I go back and take care of my best friend?” Because it’s not my house, I can’t tell anyone what to do.
Her cousin left and my “friend” stopped, I rolled to the left side and tried to go to sleep, didn’t work cause next thing you know, my “friends” decision to not hydrate caught up, she was feeling unwell and I was worried, I attempted to make her feel better I went out to get water and crackers to get some food in her belly and hydration into her body. When I came back, she was hugging the porcelain god, naked, i didn’t know when I came around the corner, I thought she was puking, but not naked!
I shot back around and came extremely close to just leaving but that’s not what a friend would do? Is it? I took a deep breath tried to drown out my screaming thoughts of ‘RUN! RUN YOU STUPID MOTHERF*CKER!!!! RUN!!!’ and I went back, I gave her the water she refused, put the crackers by the bed on the nightstand with the water she had refused, as she was hurling into the porcelain god, I found a plastic trash bin and placed it at the side of the bed, I then found her toothpaste and toothbrush and set it up, attempted to get her to brush her teeth so the after taste of throw up wouldn’t cause her to puke again; she refused and continued hurling; I held her hair.
She sat back, and started to apologize; I told her “it’s okay, don’t worry about it, it’s fine” while thinking ‘I NEED TO GET THE F*CK OUT OF HERE. No, that’s not what a best friend would do, you have to make sure she’s okay’. I don’t know how much time went by, but she finally stopped and drank some water, she ignored the toothbrush even after I attempted to explain why she should. I escorted her to bed, and I was afraid she was going to die, dehydration from the alcohol AND the hot tub, I stayed up all night, laying down on the left side away from her but whenever she seemed to move to see if I was there, I moved my foot to touch hers to let her know I was there, whenever she sat up I sat up to support her, she couldn’t find the water, I found it for her, she couldn’t find the trash bin, I got it for her. She ate a cracker and I realized my mistake, saltine crackers were a bad idea, salt dehydrates too...
I don’t know when I fell asleep but I finally fell asleep just as the sun was rising and soon her cousin woke me up and I laid there with my eyes closed looking toward the window away from everyone in the room. When everyone started moving, I shot up and went to the balcony outside to smoke a cig. I smoked and sat there, reflecting on what all went on, I took a deep breath and thought I made an okay decision being there for my “friend” my “best friend”, when I saw her cousin in the kitchen I came back in and she and her cousin asked me to go out to get some breakfast; I obliged and when I got back said she was going to school, and that I would stay and hang out; I told her “it’s okay, I can go home” her cousin replied with “no no it’s okay, it’ll give y’all time to hangout and she won’t have to be here alone”
(Mind you all morning my “friend” was “sleepy” and “unwell”)
I said “uh okay”
No more than 30 seconds went by and my “friend” came out all full of energy and suddenly feeling “well”. She became sexual and I reciprocated making out, but then she asked me to have sex with her. I was uncomfortable and she knew it, four times I said No, and she continued asking; remembering all of the times she told me how ugly she felt, unimportant, irrelevant, invisible she was to her husband and family, she was also accepting of me, and I didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize this friendship... I gave in... for fear of being shunned and kicked to the curb had I not…
I didn’t climax... ...it felt like a chore... Started to get a headache so I pretending to get tired and we stopped.
I left and went to sit on the couch... ...she came over and sat next to me... Her eyes all bright and big asking “so how was it? How was it?”
...I didn’t tell her anything that resembled what she said she experienced at the hand of her husband and family...
...then she went back and laid down saying she was feeling unwell...
...I told her I could leave, she told me not to....
...her cousin finally made it back, and soon I was able to leave, she changed her demeanor towards me and told me I should leave...
... I was okay with it...
...it was tearing me apart...
...on my drive home, she called me up saying “I have to tell ———-“ I was relieved, and I said “as long as you’re honest” this meant I wouldn’t have to tell him...
... about a day went by and she called me up to tell me she had told him, even asked if I could talk to him cause he wanted to talk to me...
...I thought that’d be a bad idea...
...until I found out what she told him...
...that she was drunk and I was sober... She claimed she only told him that because he had a look of “hope” in his eyes...
...I was still unhappy... it wasn’t honest,
...she then said in a tone I’m certain no one in her family had heard her use, “I CAN TELL MY FAMILY YOU RAPED ME, DO YOU WANT ME TO DO THAT?!”... I was floored, I asked her “you’d really do that?” (This is stuff that people do in movies, not real life?) she said “no” in a soft voice...
... she said that was the ONLY thing that was changed in her story...
I was unhappy but I had to take it, right? She said she would accuse me of something much worse?
She called me a few days later, saying she wished she never told him, that she “missed” me, then she told me she told her mother, I asked her if she told her mother the truth or the same story she gave her husband - she said she told the same story she told her husband because she wanted to keep her story straight...
...then she told me that her mother was flipping out on her and about to kick her out, I messaged her mother with the information I had at the time, which she had shared with me...
...my “friend” messaged me screaming, not able to believe I would message her mother, “you couldn’t give it a couple days?!” “Your selfish” - I told her “I messaged because I didn’t want her to kick you out, I wanted her to see your pain, she should be there for you”...
About half a month passed and July2017 My “friend” started messaging me about how much she misses me and how she regrets telling her family about “what happened” - I was unhappy that she would say she was drunk and I was sober and she knew it, she apologized. She asked me to meet her at her lesbian friends house after they came back from a party... I thought it’d be nice to talk with a friendly face... I was living out in Cali with no one... knowing nobody...
So I went over and she came out, got into the car and instructed me to park down the street because she didn’t want her best friend to know I was there...
We sat and talked... the old friendship feeling snuck back and it was refreshing to finally have someone to talk to... she then told me “you said you only had sex with me so I wouldn’t feel ugly” and I didn’t want her to think she was ugly so I tried to let her know that it wasn’t, but she needed proof, and she asked me to have sex with her again - I told her no, she asked again, and I told her i didn’t know, and she asked again and my mind was drawing a blank and all I could think of was “I don’t want the same thing to happen” she assured me with a scoff “oh, it won’t happen” I asked “how do you know?” She replied “because I won’t tell anyone” and I felt cornered, she had threatened to tell her family I had “raped” her when she had yelled at me “IF YOU WANT, I CAN TELL MY FAMILY YOU RAPED ME”, with that threat implied and if I didn’t do it then everything I tried to keep her from feeling the first time would have been for nothing, she would feel those things and I would have been the cause... ... if I didn’t then I surely would be all alone in Cali... ...no one to talk to... ...no friend... falsely accused of “rape” so I gave in... again...
Soon...
She was blaming me, blaming my mental illnesses for my questions into inconsistencies... like when I’d question her about doing and being with a bunch of other guys while telling me it was all my fault and I was the only one... she would tell me it was her family that was keeping her from talking with me... that they would say this and say that... ...
I had no idea what I was feeling... I was lost... I was empty... ... anxiety... ...depression... ...I went to therapy and the therapist was telling me it was her fault and I’d get into arguments defending my “friend”... to the extent I stopped seeing my therapist... I found myself reliving those moments... ...unable to sleep... I was drowning and grasping for branches... and there was none... it had to be my fault, it had to be me, it had to be my mental illnesses... no human is capable of this... nobody would... I would go to sleep exhausted and wake up even more exhausted... I couldn’t focus on work, I couldn’t focus on classes... if it wasn’t my fault, then I wouldn’t be shunned, ignored, attacked, blamed... She blamed my mental illnesses so it had to be... because nothing else makes sense... a good person wouldn’t do this to another human being... so it has to be me... it has to be my mental illnesses...
I tried killing myself due to being afraid it was my mind...
3 DUI’s in two weeks and on the third - drove my car into two trees and a gas station...
2 months after I tried killing myself...
...I found the truth out with evidence...
...two months after that I found out about NarcissisticAbuse...
...a year later I found out from her husband that she had already basically falsely accused me of r*ping her...
...10 months after that I found out coercion in California is r*pe...
(There are obviously mountainous amounts of details and parts of this “friendship” I didn’t touch, it already got long and I tried keeping it as short as possible)

[Counter Response To] THAILAND IS RACISTS BECAUSE FARANG CAN'T BUY LAND and THAIS GET DISCOUNTS AT PARKS.

Thailand is not a Democracy yet I feel more free in the Kingdom than in California.
Another day another thread or comment is posted on reddit about a FARANG talk crap about Thailand. Yet THAILAND has 3 of their cities in "Most Traveled to Cities in the World" Visa did a stats on this and many other sources corroborated. Why is that? Racists? Xenophobe? Rude culture? Then why do people come?
Allow me to play Devil's advocate:
1) FARANG can't buy land not because of racism but because of CAPITALISM. THAILAND PROTECT KING'S LAND for ITS PEOPLE to purchase at affordable price per Rai.
Examples:
Look at California coastal cities to Oregon to Washington to Vancouver BC. Most of THE LANDS ARE OWNED BY MULTI NATIONAL CORPORATIONS BANKERS. It baffles me when citizen of its own country who parents live in the area cannot afford rent where they grew up. Some old ass landlord dude bottleneck the whole zip code innovation from young people by purchasing up all land and making rent more than 50% of young people's income. People work to pay rent rather than live their life doing passion or other services. So many people are now doing "VaN LiFe, LiveLovePrayTraveltoThailand90daysVisaHopsElepahantPants" Young people suffers from: No private property, no care, no sense of belonging at all. So much pressure for young men, so high suicide rates and divorce due to RENT. It's always comes down to roof over your head.
Look at Facebook owner Zuckerberg. He owns half the island in Hawaii.
Look at Jamaica and other islands around it. All resorts own by few rich dudes. People can't access most beaches only one public beach.
Look at Manila. Homeless Citizens everywhere eating PAG PAG aka throw away KFC in trash while landlords gets fat. Same constitution as USA. Facsimile.
Look at Burma, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. Rich military men has multiple wives Helicopters for medivac. Regular citizen get snake bit in the field. No BTS. NO SPEED TRAIN. Good luck fighting cobra bite on motor bike for 45 minutes to "Hospital".
10 Families own half Florida land mass.
Al Jazeera UK usually anti Thailand just released in Youtube video praising Thailand Swiztzerland has program sending their elder to Thailand to lives rest of their lives with nuero disease. It's great news but it's kinda funny how they outsource their elder to other country and Switz and Sweden supposed to be best country in the world LOL. Thailand last resort https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7yeiO-UZoM Read the comments how many Switz praise Thai ways of respecting elder.
Look at California. City of Irvine. 4th safest city in United States. 90% own by Irvine Company. It's a big slum lord company with crazy HOA with high tax. You can never own especially with student loan.
Look with San Francisco. You can make 100k per year and live in a shack 3k per month.
You think an average Thai can afford that life style? Western born people even can't afford land in country like the United States land of the FREE so how can Thai? Unless you wanna live in Tornado alley where your life saving can be wiped in 1 shot. Then yes you cann buy a Mcmansion for a 100k.
You yourself will likely pay way more once Thailand becomes democracy. Lands are not gonna be affordable like you think. With outside money, China will swiped right the whole coasts and turn it into Casino like in LAOS, Cambodia and Vancouver Africa. Those videos that FARANG JOE posts on youtube for $200/month BEACH FRONT RENTAL PROPERTY IN PRACHUAP KIRIKHAN etc will be all GONE. It will be like $200 a night bungalo cut out from street with all kind of HOA laws and everything will costs 3 times more due to permit. 30 BAHT street food bowl of BAH MEE MOO DANG from mom and pops shops? Low rent means cheap food. LMAO now 90 BAHT with RENT MARK UP TO GO TO IPO COMPANY WHO JUST ENTERED SP500. Look at USA LANDSCAPE nothing but malls, starbucks, and amazon warehouses. It takes 16 licenses to open a lemonade stand in California. Costs ramification is a lot to an average person. It's not racism at all. Thailand wants Thai to be self reliant and proud business owner. Capitalism kills small businesses Ask Jeff Bayso who during COVID 19 Earnings in first three months equivalent to $33m an hour.
If you want to own property buy condo or buy land but do it the right way and marry a good woman or man. You gonna pass it on to your sons and daughters anyway so who cares. Make babies, plant flag and hold down your land with your wife. If you marry a bar girl and she leaves you, you cannot blame Thailand. You lost your virginity and felt in love with your first warm cherries pie and then it's on you. Bar girls slept with 10,000 dudes by the time she retires at ripe age of 30. I get some people don't care about body count as long as no STD but generally they are harder to bond with. Think about it, would you hire someone to manage your business who leaves his job every week for a new job on his resume? No loyalty. They will run and find another sucker. Don't blame anyone but yourself.
2) Thailand has CONSCRIPTION aka ALL MEN MUST SERVE.
United States has VETERAN DISCOUNTS almost everywhere and has PX for active duty services and VET only electronic stores and booze and cigarettes no tax. Memorial days discounts and perks. Wear a dress Blue??? Free meals all day.
A group of Marine got on the same boat with me and my buddies from Long Beach to Catalina island fishing for scorpion fish. We paid $100 each for 4 hours fishing. Marines all paid 25% less than us due to military discount. I AM PERFECTLY FINE WITH THAT. They served, gave up few years of their youth for service. GOOD FOR THEM HOORAH.
Many average male in Thailand including your sons has to serve unless u hide him from Thailand until he is 30 years old. Many of them also has to be a monk one season for "GrAnDPaRenTz GoeS To HeavEn FamILy HappY" My point is they don't just get the perks. They have to serve 2 years guarding Cambodian, Laos, Burma, and Malaysia boarder and has to be a monk too. I AM ABSOLUTELY OKAY WITH PAYING 100 BAHT AKA 3 BUCKS to enter National Parks and Somchai can pay 30 BAHT aka 1 DOLLARS. I did not serve. My GDP is higher. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH PAYING FARANG PRICE.
The Thais are not racists but are weeding out unorganized grab-asstic Cheap Charlies and sociopath takers who pack the attitude to be confrontational in their beloved Thailand. If you can't save up 800k BAHT aka 27k USD, you have no business leaching and retiring in other countries that you didn't put into the system.
People who qualify to retired in Thailand TODAY has a lot higher quality of life than the former Thailand of 20 years ago.
Seems like many Farang with Asian wife in particular ran from Neo-Liberalism-Bigbrother-nopersonalfreedom politics with high tax high rental costs and high divorce rate in the west. So why try to make Thailand Democracy like your home you ran from? Which eventually becomes high propety tax like California. Stay out of politics. Everytime USA bring Democracy, someone gets bombed. You're a guest go fix your home.
Old people can't even afford medicare copays and rent off SSA. What kind of society just let their elder dies in massive body count during COVID19 in USA hospice. Thais cares way more about old people and even bow to them and answer KRUP OR KRA after every sentence.
CHUCKIE AND PAIGE from NOTIME2BESAD just paid 1k PER YEAR for PPO INSURANCE in THAILAND. Thai doctors can make a dude turn to hot ladyboy. Your tumor or nose job is nothing. Them surgeons working in King's hospital are mostly Farang and or Western Medical Educated Thais and only cost a fraction of the US pricing. Retired at 50 years old no need to work hard all your life to 70 years old and break health to make money, then the spent the made money to save health.

A Thorough Review of Robins AFB

COPY PASTA from my post at AirForce!
A Thorough Review of Robins AFB
Hello Everyone,
This is my review of Robins AFB after living here for the past 5 years. Hope you find this helpful!
If you’re familiar with using Google Map/GPS to help you get to a military base, it can be difficult to find an open gate without your GPS telling you to turn/U-Turn into a closed gate!
Put in your GPS, “Martin’s BBQ, 102 S Armed Forces Blvd, Warner Robins, GA 31088.” It will take you to Watson Blvd and to the only 24hr gate; Watson Gate. This is also the gate to get visitor passes for your friends/family.
The other gate you’ll be using a lot is Russell gate which is connected to Russell Pkwy. I’ll be assuming you’re driving from the Atlanta airport, so south of Highway 247. GPS the “Museum of Aviation” and about 100 yards before you arrive at the MoA, exit right to Russell Gate. Note, Russell Gate closes at 2400 (0100 on Fri and Sat only) and opens up at 0430 on weekdays and 0500 on the weekends. Hours subject to change, check online for more specific hours!
Green Gate and MLK Gate are two other notable gates mainly for inbound and outbound traffic in the morning rush/afternoon rush.
Bowling Alley: 908 Ninth Street (478-926-2112)
Fitness CenteBase Gym: 826 Eighth Street (478-926-9128)
Fitness Annex/24 Hour Gym: Bldg 301 (478-926-2840)
Finance: 236 Milledgeville Street Suite 526 (478-926-4022)
Heritage Club/Restaurant: 956 Ninth St (Various Numbers)
ITT/Outdoor Recreation: Bldg 984 (Located next to the Main BX) (478-926-4001)
Medical Clinic: 655 Seventh St (478-327-7850 Appointment Line)
MPF/MPS: 660 Macon St (478-327-5666)
Warner Robins - The main city outside of Robins AFB is Warner Robins. WR will be referenced a lot while you are here at Robins. WR can be summed up in a few words as a small-sized southern city with churches and chain restaurants. The city consists of two main counties; Houston (pronounced “House Ton” and not “Hugh’s Town.” People will correct you on this!) and Peach County.
Macon - Located about 15 miles north of Robins AFB/Warner Robins. Macon has a lot of history and is nicknamed the “Heart of Georgia” because it is in the center of GA. Honestly IMO, Macon is pretty ghetto… What happened to Macon is similar to Detroit.. Both places were once thriving industrial cities until their main asset collapsed. You’ll see a lot of abandoned buildings when you drive to downtown Macon. It is pretty sad. There are some nice areas in Macon to visit though, like around Zebulon Road. I’d still recommend going downtown to eat at some nice mom and pop stores. Make sure to never go alone, however.
Savannah - Located about 2 ½ hours to 3 hours South-East/East of Robins. It is the #1 “Most Haunted” city in the United States apparently. It is really fun to visit. Eat seafood and go on some ghost tours while you’re there. The #3 Ice Cream Shop in the U.S. is in Savannah, Leopolds, if you love ice cream. The vibe can be described as a cross between Florida and South Carolina and “hipster-ish” thanks to SCAD there. Be prepared to walk a lot. Free parking on the weekends! Almost every store gives military discounts since there is an Army Base nearby. Give yourself 3 days and 2 nights to really have a grasp and enjoy Savannah.
Atlanta - The capital of GA and the place to be! It is located about 100 miles north of Robins which takes about 2 ½ hours to drive, thanks to the good ol’ Atlanta traffic! There is an abundant amount of things to do and sightsee that I will talk about later in this post.
Owen’s Boarding House is one of my favorite mom and pop stores in WR and it's really close to the base for a quick lunch! Owen’s is an all-you-can-eat lunch-only southern restaurant, dig in those chicken wings! It’s about $10.50, cash only.
The Rookery, in downtown Macon, is one you’ll hear a lot of. It is an old southern/burger joint. The store has a fancy dining upstairs; The Dovetail, if you’re into that.
Martin's BBQ, I referenced it earlier as a good point to locate Robins AFB but it is also a popular BBQ!
WR really loves Mexican food, and so do I! Taco Shed is next to the Museum of Aviation, it is American Mexican food. Salsa’s which is a dining American Mexican restaurant. My Grandma’s Empanadas and Luis for more authentic Mexican food. Cuban Cafe sells pretty good Cuban food. Tacos and More, I wasn't a huge fan of it but one of the comments mentioned it and it does sell $1 tacos, try it out!
Wasn't a fan of Saigon Noodle in WR, its close to base, which is why I believe their portions are small for a Vietnamese place. Plus, the Pho soup has MSG!
Pho Saigon in Macon is great, however. Good portions, and no MSG in their soups!
Stir King is a nice American Chinese place which gives good portions. I am not a fan of the “Japanese” food in WR, better go to Atlanta for real sushi and ramen. Also… screw all of WR’s Hibachi restaurants.
I did not mention any corporate/franchise restaurants since you may already be familiar with them and only want to mention the mom n pop stores.
They’re also “Senior Airmen” dorms for Airmen who’ve stayed longer in the dorms. Essentially, a SrA dorm is a larger dorm with no suite-mate and no kitchen. If the dorms have no availability, Airmen with the longest TOS (Time-on-Station) will be allowed to leave early. You can ask regularly if the dorms are full and maybe you can leave ahead of others.
Certain circumstances can allow you to leave the dorms early such as being a mature age (like over the age of 30) or being married but your spouse is currently living elsewhere due to service, school, etc.
My personal experience: I lived in the dorms and I would describe the overall experience as “okay.” It can be hit or miss with a good suite-mate and your dorm might have mold in them... I didn’t though. Typically activities of dorm airmen include going clubbing, the gym, and/or playing video games. Overall, I enjoyed living in the dorms because of the access to network with other Airmen, not cooking my own food, because of the DEFAC, and friends were just close by.
I lived in Warner Robins after I moved off base from the dorms, and the area was okay. Generally speaking, the further you live off base, (and this goes for all military bases) the safer the environment becomes.
If you’re wanting to live in a nicer area and/or have kids. Look into living in cities Kathleen and/or Bonaire. The area and school system (like Houston County High School) is much nicer than the rest of the public school system.
Cities like Perry and Bryon have far commutes of at least 20 minutes but can be described as “rural” if like not knowing your neighbors.
IMO, please do yourself a favor and do not live off or near Green St. (Hint. It’s right off Green St Gate!) I would also not recommend living in Macon. Imma be real and say Macon is pretty ghetto in most parts of the city (unless you live off Zebulon Rd) and the commute to work is going to be at least 20 mins to work. Edit: Forgot to mention Riverside in Macon. It is still relatively new and the area is nice and so are the neighborhoods. The Riverside Mall is an outdoor mall, very safe and clean. Don't go to the Macon Mall, however.
Essentially, South-West of Warner Robins is the best place to live. Where Feagin Mill Rd and Highway 96 is.
Off Base Housing community is called Huntington Chase, it’s ghetto from what my co-workers have told me as they’ve gunshots go off frequently and cars are breaking into. Off-Base housing is open to civilians and not just military.
Coca Cola Factory - Entry is free for military (does not include dependents) and it is a nice place to go on a date. Try flavors of coke from around the world!
Aquarium - IMO, the experience felt it was geared towards children, I would only pay during special military days because $33 is not worth the visit!
Atlanta Zoo - Never been but it is another sight seeing opportunity.
Dragon Con - A.K.A. “Comic Con of the East.” Where 80k of your “best friends” come meet in a 4-day comic/pop culture/movie/ convention which spans across 5 hotels! Most people get turned off when they hear “comic” as they associate this con with sweaty nerds… Well, they aren’t wrong! But I can guarantee you’ll be missing out if you did not attend this con at least once while you’re at Robins. Even if you don’t love comics, movies, anime, or pop culture (who doesn’t like at least one of the 4?) you can open drink in public for the duration of the con! It is always during Labor Day weekend every year. And if you don’t mind paying for the price of a host hotel, they’re worth it. Good luck because they get booked fast!
Anime Weekend Atlanta - An Anime Con that specializes on having Japanese pop/rock stars to play in the con!
MomoCon - An Anime Con that specializes in 24hour gaming/arcade gaming for the entire weekend!
Ponce City Market - A hipster food and shopping market that used an abandoned factory as their shopping district. Please do yourself a favor and park in Ponce City Market’s parking and not try to get “free” parking from the plaza across the street. You’ll get a “boot” on your car when you come back and have to pay a fine… Ask me how I figured that out...
Caffeine and Octane - A huge car meet in Atlanta that meets regularly.
Mardi Gras: The drive to Louisiana is about 6 hours but I know some Airmen who made the trip to be there for Mardi Gras.
Florida: The drive will take at least 3 hours to cross the Florida border. Florida is fun, do I need to say more?
Professional Sports: Altanta Hawks, Braves, and Falcons! Look for special discounts near Veterans days like Hoops for Troops. The Falco
Don’t forget to check the ITT office for free or reduce price activities for “single Airmen!” Seriously, I’ve gone skydiving, deep sea fishing, paintballing, etc for free or reduced prices! 50% of Disney Park passes!
Obviously, there are more things to do than the list I provided, DYOR and maybe you’ll find a place and/or hidden gem you’ll love!
A lot of your co-workers will most likely talk crap about Robins. Well, they’re probably the same salty Airmen who put Robins AFB, 9th, on their dream sheet and how trying to figure out how Eglin or Macdill wasn’t chosen even though it was #1 and #3 on their dream sheet. But even if they aren’t those types of Airmen.... Robins is one of those “what you make of it bases.”
You. Yes you, Airman, have to create your own experiences and be willing to leave your dorm and not be a dorm rat to make memories at Robins. This base isn’t centrally located to anything known for “fun” like all the bases in San Antonio, all Florida bases, Travis, Keesler and the casinos, etc. Even that hot A1C still has to make an effort to venture out and explore new roads and can’t rely on other people to do it for them.
“Robins-ism.” For whatever reason, “Robin-ism” is basically AFIs and the proper order of how to do things in the Air Force... does not apply the same for Robins. You’ll hear a lot of “that’s not how we did that at my last base.” People say it's because the amount of civilians outnumbers the military 3:1. And with that, if the civilians don’t like the AFI/protocol, it will slowly but surely die out and a “Robin-ism” method of how to do things soon takes over. I am not blaming the large civilian population, it is just what Airmen accept is the reason why some people on this base can be lazy at times.
Allergies. If you never experienced allergies or have in the past. Well, Warner Robins has a surprise for you... Seriously, you could potentially suffer from bad allergies.
I hope you found this review helpful if you're incoming to Robins whether it'd be a PCS or TDY, or if you just wanted to read my review.
Edit: Added more info.
Edit 2: I have since PCSed from Robins in 2020.

Likely to be one of the last times I ever see my father, and he has been nothing but drunk the entire time

I am 25 years old. My dad is anywhere between 57-60 years old. (I'm not sure.) I live in Florida. My dad lives in Pennsylvania. I haven't seen my father in about 2 and a half years. So I decided to buy a plane ticket and come up here, to Pennsylvania, and spend 4 days with him.
When I got off the plane I was obviously excited to see him as he was excited to see me. We spent the day in Philadelphia doing all of the Philadelphia touristy crap that I had at this point never done in my life. We visited the liberty bell, independence hall, art museum, etc. My father was chain smoking cigarettes the entire time; he has been smoking since he was in 7th grade. But what's a little second hand smoke right? I was really enjoying my time with my dad!
We arrived home that Wednesday evening. He threw together a dinner and we began to watch the Phillies take on the Red Sox on TV. I was so happy to be spending time with my dad, watching a game we both love dearly, baseball, like we have done together so many times in the past.
As the night progressed however, my dad was changing. An entirely oblivious individual would think: "Weird it's almost like he's drunk". They would be right. He was plastered. This same oblivious individual would then think: "Well he can't be drunk, he hasn't had anything to drink." They would be wrong.
I don't need to see it to know that he was likely taking swigs out of his bottle of whiskey every time he went out for a cigarette. As the night progressed his intoxication levels rose to the point where he couldn't walk. He was using the furniture and walls to keep his balance.
"You alright dad?"
"Yea I'm fine."
We didn't talk about much that night because, well, he really wasn't in a state where he could partake in a meaningful conversation. None the less, the game was enjoyable and I still looked at this positives: "I am with my dad". That's all that matters.
Day 1 of 4 complete.
I woke up the next day to my dad in the kitchen cooking up an awesome breakfast! :-) My dad loves breakfast and always whips something together that's unique and hits the spot. We planned that we would go to the local casino so I could check out their poker room. So off we went.
It was at this point on our way to the casino I began analyzing my dad in his sober state.
"Gosh" I thought "he sure does shake a lot" (see alcoholic tremors)
When my dad is sober he is flat, uninterested in conversations, and even in the presence of his one and only child seems unable to enjoy anything. He's just a wide-eyed zombie smoking his cigarettes to get through the day anxiously awaiting the next most socially appropriate moment for the presence of alcohol to be reintroduced into his bloodstream.
5pm rolls around and my father orders his first beer at a bar within the casino. He comes up with the great idea of checking out the local minor league baseball team for a 7 o'clock game. Perfect, I ordered the tickets on my phone right then and there. 1 beer later, tab payed, and we were off to the game.
You would think that 2 beers in, my dad would "loosen up" and ultimately escape the sober state I described earlier. However as we drove to the baseball game the same eerie feeling of sober-disscontempt emanated from his body and permeated the car.
We arrive at the game. My dad gets a beer. We sit down in our seats awaiting the game to begin. He quickly finishes his beer.
"Hey bud, I'm going to grab a hotdog and a quick smoke I'll be right back"
"Okay dad I'll be right here"
He returns with another beer and a hotdog. 10 or so minutes later, the game begins. "I am at a baseball game with my dad, this is great!" I thought.
Unfortunately, like much of what occurred during this visit with my dad, that euphoric feeling of things being normal faded quickly. It began pouring and reality set in: "This game isn't starting back up anytime soon". We stood around a bit longer, squished next to other fans all looking to stay dry. My dad ordered another beer, smoked another cigarette.
"Let's go home" I suggested, sensing my dad's patience running thin. Did I want to leave? I was indifferent. In a typical setting, sure I'd want to go home, but this was different. I was with my dad. I didn't care that it was raining. We could have stayed at the ball park for hours with all of the other families hoping that the rain passed. This wouldn't have bothered me. But I knew my dad did not feel the same. More enjoyable things exist in his mind: his bottle of whiskey; it'd be selfish of me to deprive him of such pleasures.
So off we went. I drove home. Even after 5 beers my dad at this point was in his disscontempt-sober-state. When we arrived home. Nothing surprising here: as the front door of the house opened so did the bottle of whiskey. The night progressed. We watched Shark Tank and by the end of the night, he was plastered, again.
As I write this now I realized I missed my opportunity that night. You see all I really wanted was to talk to my dad about life, memories, what the future holds, etc. In order to have these conversations he has to be in his sweet spot. What's the sweet spot you may ask? Well the sweet spot is where he isn't sloppy drunk yet however he's drunk enough to be open to having a real conversation. It's a very small window, one that I missed that night. Oh well.
Day 2 of 4 complete.
I woke up the next day to breakfast again. "Thanks dad". I went to Starbucks for a hour and a half as I was feening for some productivity and a space to clear my mind. My dad and I didn't have much planned this day, aside from meeting his ex girlfriend, whom was once a significant part of my life, for a late lunch.
At lunch my dad went out for a smoke a couple of times. These provided opportunities for me and his ex girlfriend to discuss how he was doing.
"How do you think your dad is doing?"
"Not good. I don't know what to do. I'm just going to focus on making more money."
Why is it I think money will solve this issue? Well, I can throw money at the problem. He'll eventually be unemployable. His current financial situation is not going to allow him to retire. If I make more money, I'll force him to come down to Florida and get sober. In a perfect world. Not a good solution I know, I'm working on that.
During lunch my dad had a couple of beers. It was great seeing his ex-girlfriend. We left, said our goodbyes, and went home. I was tired so I took a hour nap. When I woke up my dad was drunk. It was only 5pm. I decided to walk to the store to get some fresh air, call some people, and buy a smoothie. An entire hour passes. I return home. The front door is locked. My dad locked me out and fell asleep. I pounded on the front door. He eventually opened and slurred:
"wwheedre'dd yeww go bud?"
"I was at the store. Sitting outside on the phone drinking my smoothie on the phone."
"ohhh wwhell you shhhould have saiad someething befour ya left :-)"
I did tell you dad. I let you know. You were just so f***ed up that you didn't hear me. Or maybe you forgot? Who knows. Oh you're going to bed? Oh okay that's fine no big deal it's just me, your son, in your presence for 1 more day.
My dad went to bed extremely early because, well, he was obliterated and his body said "hey man I'm going to turn you off so you live!". I ended up staying up super late watching HBO.
Day 3 of 4 complete.
Which brings us to our final day.
Today we woke up. Went to the golf driving range. Went through a bucket of balls.
"Hey dad you want to get another bucket?"
"Nahh"
Again. He doesn't want to do shit when he's sober. He's just going through the motions. We went to a bar to play some pool which is another activity that we have bonded over in the past. We play a total of 3 games. He has a total of 2 beers. We leave. Go to another bar, I order some wings, he orders a beer. We leave. Go home. He cracks open the whiskey. Gets obliterated.
Now he's asleep. I have a flight tomorrow morning at 8AM. He barely said goodnight. I'm afraid that my last memories of my father will be of him being piss drunk complaining about how he has to wake up early to drop me off at the airport.
It was great seeing you dad. I'm sad that we didn't get to talk, about, anything of substance because when we were together you were either a.) going through severe withdrawals or b.) completely hammered.
I no longer drink for a multitude of reasons. As you guys can see I am approaching my year mark. I wrote this because I just had to get it off of my chest and I didn't know where else to put it. I hope it serves as an example for those on here who have children and are looking to quit. Know that you will be providing so much more value to your family through soberness and that your choices affect everyone around you.
I know some will offer advice in this thread. I do appreciate it. Just be aware of the fact that I do know that I need to help him and that I am coming up with a plan. Unfortunately it'll be hard to implement as the distance between us is so vast.
The reality is that alcohol kills and will likely end my father's life soon. This post is a way of expressing my feelings in light of this harsh reality.

A Cliff Notes Summary of the First One Out Interviews

If you haven't had time to listen to seven hours of podcast interviews, or you didn't retain everything you heard, here are some key points. I didn't think to do this until just now, so I'll be posting it as a work in progress and updating it throughout the afternoon. That way more people will have a chance to read up before the premiere.
Karishma Patel, 37, Personal Injury Trial Lawyer, Houston, TX -First generation Indian-American Her mom was as a legal assistant, and got her a filing job at her law firm when she was 14. "I didn't have other options. I was basically told I was going to be a lawyer and I didn't disagree."She has watched every season and regularly listens to RHAP. She sits close to the TV to study the inflections on people's faces when something is said to them, so that she can think about what that means. But, her parents and husband don't share her enthusiasm for the show. Asked if it's her dark pleasure she says, "It is completely bright. It is a beautiful pleasure of mine, but it is mine and mine only. I haven't been able to find people to share it with." -Doing the show has caused her conflict. "Not only is it not expected, it's not allowed. It's kind of like being a disobedient Indian girl. You're not supposed to be doing this. What you're supposed to be doing is having babies. But I don't care. I'm a risk taker. I'm here to prove to myself that I don't need to listen to anybody else. I don't need permission from anybody else. This is my journey and I'm going to take it. I hope that people watching out there can see that an Indian woman's value does not come from doing what she's told." -She doesn't currently have children, and she says she has some decisions to make as she enters a crossroads and the next stage of her life. -Her law firm told her they'll replace her if they're able to find someone, and she can have her job back if they don't. "I didn't flinch." -Her strategy is to be non-threatening and play a social game. She doesn't look 37, and she wants to use that youthfulness to be disarming. She wants to build relationships other people believe in. She defines success by other people vouching for her loyalty when they go off and have private conversations with one another. "That means I got 'em, because it's actually the other way around." Asked if she wants to find someone she can trust, "I'm not going to be capable of it. I'm too skeptical for that. I overthink things, so I'm not going to be able to trust somebody the way I want to be trusted... If I do, that's the end of my game."
My take: Oh my God. Poor Karishma. Her story hurts my heart. She reminds me so much of myself in her isolation, her defiance and her deep feelings. I worry that her fear of trusting people could get in the way of her forming genuine bonds. But, there's nothing she can do. Society has made her the way she is. I hope she gets a lot of screen time so she can be a star of her favorite show.
Missy Byrd, 24, Military Veteran/App Developer, Tacoma, Washington -Originally from Georgia. Her family was 'decently poor.' She played basketball for the Air Force Academy because she thought it was her ticket out. -She had a brain tumor. She stopped menstruating for a year and two quarters. "I'm not dating anyone but I have breast milk. I'm a literal cow... I would look down and my shirt would be wet, and I thought, 'Dang you're clumsy. I knew you were clumsy, but you're clumsier today than you were yesterday. But it was - it was - uhh - milk." She had crying fits. She developed a stutter and couldn't look at people. Doctors told her she was just stressed. When her dad died she couldn't process emotions normally. She was about to go to the French version of the Air Force Academy, École de l'air, after graduation but because of her mental instability she was removed from school. The military shipped her to the same Air Force base as Sandra (Fort Lewis.) "I don't want to be there. Super sad. Check into the post office - fuck this. Check into the dorms - hate that." The doctor there found the tumor. She got an MRI and all weekend she believed she might have cancer. Over the next year and a half she eliminated the tumor and the symptoms using vitamins. She enlisted and worked logistics. -She made a list of the things she wanted to do now that she was going to live. "The first thing was go see Beyonce. Beyonce costs way too much money for a normal person to go see, but if you've just almost had a near death experience you go see Beyonce, bro!" She was feet away. She drove across the country. She tried weed. -She had an idea for an app, but didn't even have the computer literacy to use social media. She found a veteran's association and asked if she could intern. "They said, 'No, you should build this out yourself. We want to work for you.' I said, 'No, the fuck you don't. Okay, lemme call my grandma.'" She wrote a grant proposal and won a $1,500 office space in the center of Seattle. "Just to do whatever I want. It was like a laboratory for a child. I had Play-Dough up there. I had a white board... Just mind blowing shit when I could have been dead." -She'd seen every episode of Survivor at least three times. She started watching because her Air Force Academy basketball team was getting decimated, and she related to Foa Foa getting decimated in Survivor: Samoa. She added the show to her list. Josh suggests, "The bugs are eating you because they want some of that magic." -She isn't going to tell people her story until she's in the Final 3. "That's that Final 3 magic." She doesn't want to overly rely on strategy. She doesn't want to win individual challenges. She to build a social game and find ways to relate to everyone.
My take: She's so full of exuberance. There's not a negative bone in her body right now. She's too young and her life experience is too necessarily limited to talk around three years of her life. If she shares her story, the beauty of her perspective will cause everyone to fall in love with her and want her to do well. If she doesn't, people will sense that she's hiding a lot. I think she'll figure that out and course correct within the first day. Since she was at the same Air Force base as Sandra and she was a massive fan, does that suggest she knows her?

Ronnie Bardah, 35, Professional Poker Player, Henderson, Nevada-Born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts, 20 minutes south of Boston. They were the only Israeli family in town. 50% of the people in Brockton were from Cape Verde, and he considers himself an "honorary Cape Verdian." A couple of his friends were shot and killed at a young age. -He was a good kid and had a good heart, but he was always hustling. In Junior High he was flipping Oatmeal Cakes and Fudge Rounds for a profit. Slinging baseball cards. Both his parents gambled. They were always at the dog tracks or Mohegan Sun. He had his friend make him a fake ID and got stuck with the name Alaja Jones. He went by Al and started playing the casinos. Quit his job at Sears Automotive to play poker full time.-He played Atlantic City, Vegas, then internationally. He had his first big score in 2010 when he took 24th place in the main event for $320,000. Got to keep $150,000 after taxes. "Poker's a hard way to make an easy living. Lots of people try. We risk every day. You have to get to a point when you can manage your bankroll and I've never gone broke in the 16 years I've played." -In one of the most viewed poker hands of all time, he was bluffed out of a million dollar pot by a supermodel on a poker TV show filmed in Monaco. "She made a sick play. She had no idea what she was doing but all the stars were aligned."-He watched Borneo when it aired and got back into it when fellow poker player Anna Khait was on. He calls Jean-Robert, "kinda a lazy guy...He's really good at befriending multi-millionaires." "Anna Khait... is probably the least poker player out of all of us. She played for a couple years." "And then Garrett - He's a very, very smart, smart kid... Self-made millionaire. One of the very, very few." -He only drank water for 7.5 days and lost 25 pounds for his health and to get an idea of the conditions of the show. He thinks he'll thrive in the survival situation. "People like being around me. I like to fucking bust balls and joke." He thinks old school alliances are a good plan, but you have to adapt. He says that like in poker, Survivor players can have every advantage, but they have to really smell it. -He wants Vince out. "There's an Asian Zeke in there. What value does he bring besides ruining people and getting in people's heads? He's a liability in challenges. He looks like a little corn puff. We gotta get him outta here. Sorry to sound so mean but it's the truth."
My take: Ruuuuude. He has no way of knowing how other people on the cast are talking in their interviews, and may assume the trash talk is standard. If he were playing on some seasons it would be. But, in this particular season it sets him apart in an unflattering way, and it seems a part of the tough persona he's built up to escape a scary situation growing up and enter a fantasy career. We'll see whether his tribe thinks he's a straight talking character or a jerk.

Tom Laidlaw, Former NHL Player, Brampton, Ontario, Canada -He was with the New York Rangers for 7 years and the LA Kings for 4. Now he has his own podcast, True Grit Life (truegritlife.com). Does it with a friend, Kevin Allen, who writes for USA Today. Does motivational speaking. -Growing up on a dairy farm outside Toronto there was a pond to water the cows. It froze over in the winters and he'd play hockey because there wasn't much else to do. Went to Northern Michigan University - four year hockey captain, ranked #1 team in the country. Drafted as a 20 year old. "My buddy had a horse farm. We were cleaning horse shit out of the stalls. There were no cell phones back then. This is 1978. My father got a call at our farm house from the New York Rangers at the draft. Back then nobody went to the draft - it was just teams. They said I'd been drafted in the sixth round. He calls the farm house where I'm working. They bring me up. He says, 'Son, you've been drafted by the Rangers.' I said, 'Great. What do I do now?' He says, 'Finish cleaning the shit out of the stalls.'" -When he played intimidation and fighting was strategy. There were guys tougher than him, but he could fight and he could also play. Problem was, he fought a guy once, and from then on the guy wanted to fight him over and over. -Jerry Bruckheimer, big hockey fan, called the NHL and wanted to get some players on the Amazing Race. Tom had kept himself in shape, he had his passport. They ended up asking him about Survivor. He'd watched it before but not for a while. He wasn't so sure he wanted to play a game where you hurt other people, but friends helped him get his head around it. He was very impressed by Christian's toughness in the endurance challenge. To prepare for the show he studied how he reacted to different situations, how to control his heart heart, etc. He wants the mental challenge.
My take: Tom really ticked me off when he spoiled a couple of outcomes of this season. That's a betrayal of the producers, his cast and the viewers. But, if that hadn't happened I would like him. He's an easy-going, charming guy. His life experiences are a bit different than anyone else who's been on the show, which is what you want.
Vince Moua, 27, Admissions Counselor, Merced, CA -His family is Hmong. His parents lived in Vietnam in the destruction left by the war - dead bodies, guns, people who wanted to kill them. They went to refugee camps in Thailand. Then his dad became a Montana farm hand. He met Vince's mom in the US, but she came from the same place. -Vince is from small town Merced, California - the 209. Few people he knew went anywhere but the UC system and community college. He went to Stanford, one of only 7-10 Hmong. He realized the significance someone can bring to people from the same community. He tried to be pre-med but realized "no, not today." The issues of access he cared about came well before people got to the hospital. He ended up going with education. His mom was a teacher, "But when I was growing up she said, 'Yo, if you become a teacher Imma disown yo ass.' To all of us. But, that's always kinda been my jam." -He lived in South Korea for five years. He taught English in a town. Then in Seoul ahed worked with low and middle income students who wanted to study outside of Korea. -He's a Survivor superfan, who even mentions on his Tinder account that he plans to be on Survivor. His parents were worried about him doing TV because he's not out as gay to his extended family. He comes from a clan where his dad is the "top dog" and Vince is "the next top dog." In the Asian American/Pacific Islander community when you come out, it's your family who faces - in a sense - dishonor. For a long time he distanced himself from his family, hoping they'd all be less hurt if they found out and disowned him. He always tried to find friends who would be there for him should his parents not be. A year ago his mom asked him rhetorically if he was gay. "I was try'n to go around it. I was like, 'Gurl, you don't wanna know! Yo ass keeps asking!' But she kept asking, asking. So finally I told her 'Yeah, I am!' and she was crying. My dad was like, 'Oh, my son!'" But, Vince is fine with who he is and wants to show kids like him that "let's hope that it gets better." Now his parents just want him to win. -He'd like to play an old school strategy but "I'm not afraid to cut a bitch." With the tribe he's going to be Homeboy Vince from the 209, but when he talks to the camera he's going to tell people "Don't underestimate your narratives." This past year with Crazy Rich Asians, he wants people to know that there are some Crazy Hood Ass Asians.
My take: What a character. Vince has a clear point of view - Hmong, blue collar, gay - which is unique to him in Survivor lore. Even though double minorities have sometimes had trouble fitting in socially on Survivor I think somehow he's going to pull it off. As unlikely as this sounds I could even see him being a Cochran-esque winner.
Aaron Meredith, 36, Personal Trainer, Warwick, Rhode Island -He's very keyed up at Ponderosa. Rambling so fast it sounds like you're listening to 1.5x. He's read four books so far - Relentless by Tim Grover, Can't Hurt Me by Dave Goggins, Iron Cowboy by James Lawrence, Harry Potter. -He was an engineer at a building insulation plant. He was miserable, too antsy sitting at a desk. Couldn't focus. So, he drove up and down the East Coast popping kettle corn - from Maine to Florida - traveling with carnies. Bartended for a while. He'd played college football and baseball, lifted since high school, and he and his friends wanted to get "huge and jacked and ripped." The owner of the gym suggested he become a personal trainer. He ended up working mostly with middle aged women and it taught him empathy. Now he owns two women's-only fitness studios. He puts supportive women around one another and offers them the positivity to seek self-growth. -He's also a party boat emcee. Lights, DJ, bar, drinks. He's an extremely social person. -He'd first applied at 23 - 6 or 7 times over the years. He was in the mix for Cook Islands and David vs. Goliath. -He's been married 7 years and has a 5 year old son. His son is a huge fan of Survivor. Libby Vincek is his favorite player. Kara Kay was his next favorite. Aaron is already sure Molly will be his son's favorite. "He has a type. He He likes the attractive blondes. He says, 'I like them because they have a nice face.' I like mommy because she has a nice face too." The boy was very concerned about his dad going on the show. He said, "Dad, I don't want anyone to laugh at you and make fun of you." Aaron said he wanted to win. His son said, "But you might not win." When they watch the show he'll always ask, "Do they like him? Do they like her?" If Aaron is portrayed in a negative light he'll have to sit down with his son and talk. He doesn't want to play a deceitful game, but he will, because he doesn't care how he's portrayed.
My take: His story about his son is one of my favorites from all these interviews. I hope he gets to work with Molly. His adrenaline is too high. I hope he calms down a lot when the game starts. But, someone so social and sweet hearted who can win challenges and take themselves to the end has got to be a contender to win.
Chelsea Walker, 27, Digital Content Editor, Los Angeles, CA -Chelsea just took the cast photo and they put her in the third spot from the bottom, a good omen because a weird number of winners have been in that position. "Your girl's number three. I got this!" -She's a Jersey girl. She went to the University of Maryland. "I didn't do Survivor: Maryland or anything." She studied Broadcast Journalism. She knew the generic emails for NBC Universal and emailed random people until someone replied. Now she's been in LA a year. She did coverage of award shows. Now she works at IMDB, where she helps Kevin Smith with his show. She just interviewed people at SXSW. -She's been watching Survivor since she was 8. She's cried in every interview because this means so much to her. She's trying to explain that at the point she starts crying again. "It's been such a dream of mine and To be told no year after year after year - these past six years have been a total mindfuck. I've basically been called every single year. I've been to finals three times. Survivor is my one true love, but the one year they didn't call me I got really pissed off so I tried out for Big Brother. I ended up becoming the alternate and got my key being filmed and all of that crap. But I don't like that show anyway." -In September 2017 she was at a WeHo bar for her friend's birthday when, "Oh shit that's Jeff Probst." Her girlfriends all know she's obsessed, so she pulled the waiter over and asked what that guy was drinking. So, Chelsea sent another one over. "I told my friends, 'Take my credit card. Split the bill, because I can't come back after I do this. As soon as the waiter drops off the drink I'm like, 'Jeff, this one's on me. You can buy me the next one at finals.' And I just walked out of the restaurant... That was a big move!" They didn't call her again that year, but Jeff still remembered when they talked this year. -She's been working out at four different gyms - weights, pilates, yoga. Push ups. Memorized puzzles. Reading How to Win Friends and Influence People, which she keeps in.a Bible sleeve so people will think she's religious. She also carries Harry Potter because she would trust someone who read HP. She wants to keep it cool. Make one on one connections. Eventually find idols - and not tell anyone she has one - and make calculated moves. "I don't want to be a Jacob. No offense."
My take: Hearing this girl cry from joy because she's so happy to be on the show makes me emotional. She's a real go getter. I wish I were that damn fearless. Truly, I wish I were more like her. I hope her pure zest for life comes across on TV and she doesn't get stuck with a purple edit just because of her age and gender. I also hope no one decides to get threatened by her as a competitive girl and vote her off premerge. I think she'll go far. Hope so.
Dean Kowalski, 28, Account Executive, New York, New York -Referring to himself in the third person, "Dean is 28 years old. As we mentioned, he lives in New York and he prides himself on being a well rounded person when it comes to interests, abilities, personalities... If I'm listening to Drake and Lil Wayne, I gotta go home and cry to This Is Us.. I can play basketball but also think about our place in the universe." He likes to tag basketball courts with a peace symbol with a ball on it which he makes using a stencil. -He structures most of his interview with Josh around an Outwit, Outplay, Outlast format, explaining why he excels at each. -He grew up in an affluent suburb. His dream was to play in the NBA. He was 5"9 3/4, so he set his eyes on college basketball as a realistic alternative. In order to get looks from colleges he went to a school 30 minutes away - top five in the country, Nike would fly them around for games and give them free Jordan sneakers. He was one of only 4 white guys in the whole school and the only one on the team. He played with Kyrie Irving, the #1 overall draft pick. "My friend said you look like the Make a Wish Kid who just wants to be on the team for a day." He played at Colombia University, where he was co-captain his senior year despite averaging two minutes a game. He became a teacher, then did sales for a tech startup in New York. He now sells ads for Google. -He's a fan, but far from a superfan. He started watching Brenda's season. (He thinks it was Nicaragua, but it was actually Carmoan.) He works with a superfan who freaked out when they had a meeting at H&R Block with Carolyn Rivera and they went out to Bourbon Street with her. He kept watching for five years and thought he could do well. He hates when people are all talk, so he sent in a tape. For the video he interviewed random strangers on the street, who had never met him or seen the show, and asked them, "Why am I going to win it?" A barber, a construction worker. He's going to tell people he's in marketing, not sales - people have sales.
My take: I'm just not that into him.
Elaine Stott, 41, Factory Worker, Rockholds, NY -When Josh asks her not to touch the table she asks him, "You seen that Bart Simpson commercial, right? Don't touch my Butterfinger? I'm already hungry thinking about it." -"I had a pretty rough way to go growing up." Her single dad raised her and her three brothers. She was the youngest. "I was raised like one of the boys. Know what I mean? Daddy didn't know how to raise no little girl." He worked 16-17 hour days. The kids raised themselves. "When little children make their own decisions, they make poor ones." She was a hellion. -She's originally from Woodbine, Kentucky, Nick Wilson's hometown. Her god sister went to school with him and she knows him through the grapevine. "We rode on different sides of the track. 20 years ago he coulda been my lawyer, because I was on the other side of the law. I'm not bad. I've just done some things." Public intoxication several times. "I come from a dry county. It's like Footloose. We cross the state line to get a beer and when you come back you're in trouble." She stole a newspaper stand once and had to do community service. "I was a little bit mean." -She went to live with her grandpa and cleaned her act up, by which she means that she started smoking a little weed and playing sports - basketball, softball, track. She played softball and judo in college. "I couldn't do nothing real technical. We had Brazilians on the team who could do flying arm bars. But if I got these claws on you and got ya on the ground I'd waller you to death." In casting she put this guy Will in an armbar. She was gonna choke him but didn't know if she should. -When she graduated, her girlfriend was a college Freshman so she went to all the same parties and ballgames for four years. Then she realized she needed a job. Now she drives a Ford truck for a factory. She's been there 15 years. She works 12 hours, 7 days a week. -Growing up her mom "was always in my life in some sense. She'd never miss a birthday. She'd be homeless, but she'd still call." Elaine and her brothers bought her cars, and places to live, and got her jobs. "In a sense I've been mourning the loss of my mom my whole life." Once Elaine was homeless herself and there was snow on the ground. It was cold, and her teacher took her in. Gave her Christmas presents. Made her go to prom. Survivor was a thing they shared, and the teacher was gonna be Elaine's loved one. But within a one year period the woman lost her daughter, her husband, her dog and then had a stroke. Now "she walks like Frankenstein" and can't go. Elaine got Probst to talk to her, and she can't wait to watch. In October Elaine's biological mom went into a coma. She was on life support, but Elaine wouldn't unplug her. Her mom came out of it and seemed to be doing a lot better only to die very suddenly of a heart attack. -Her girlfriend and her girlfriend's two sons are gonna be watching. The 18 year old doesn't know because he can't keep a secret. The 13 year old helped her lose 20 pounds doing crossfit to come out here. She wants the money, but she really wants "some of that soul searching, that life adventure, that life changing - some of that. You know what I mean? Gimme some of that soup! Lemme eat some of that up! I want this show to build me up, because I feel like it can. I sure hope to hell it don't tear me down."
My take: About 12 sobbing emojis in a row. She's my favorite. If she gets voted out premerge I'm going to go into mourning. And how can you not sort of expect that? I am going to be so upset if they just dismiss her because she's older and looks out of shape and sounds country. If that happens, I want another Second Chance season next year.
Elizabeth Biesel, 26, Olympic swimmer, South Kingstown, Rhode Island -Josh says that Elizabeth was outright identified by one of the other contestants because they'd been watching YouTube videos about how to be a better swimmer. Others guessed she was an Olympian based on her rings tattoo. -She's from the Ocean State. They lived a block away from the beach, so they wanted her to take swimming lessons. She was a rambunctious child and swimming was the only way they could calm her energy. She started breaking records when she was 7 or 8. When she was 13 she made her first national team. At 15 she went to the Olympics. She got good early. Women peak around 22-23, and she ended her career at 24. You couldn't make much money doing it. She swam one of the longer, more grueling races, and her body said "no more." She listened to her body and retired. Some athletes lose their love for swimming because they're embittered by losing by 1/100th of a second, or they leave injured. She left on a good note. Still, if she could swim competitively for the rest of her life, she would. Now she doesn't know who she is or what she's going to do with the rest of her life. Every hour of the day used to have a purpose. Now her days are wide open. She can't keep eating 5,000 calories a day. "It's sort of like I'm mourning the death of Elizabeth Biesel the swimmer." -She was a Survivor fan as a kid because Richard Hatch was from Rhode Island. In her area "Every single household that had a television set was watching Survivor." When they asked her if she'd do the show, she felt pure joy. She said absolutely right away. She's excited about the competition of Survivor. No heated Olympic pools. You're stripped down to your core. She's amazed by the scope of the production apparatus. She's not a schemer. She wants to be a challenge beast - not the best woman but the best overall. She'd love to have a Wendell and Dom relationship with another woman. But, she wants to avoid the drama as long as she can.
My take: Could Chelsea be Wendell to her Dom? She's so wholesome. She's just so "Olympics." I love her and everything she represents. I'd love to see her rocket through the swimming competitions, lapping everyone else. Go Elizabeth.

Neighbor rather have cat die inside her a car than try to let others get it out.

This happened last winter. I've had the same neighbor my whole life and we were on neutral terms. No hate or love, just people that live next to each other and mostly mind our own business. I'll call her Cindy. Before I begin, there are two things to note. 1) Her husband passed away about two years ago. 2) My family was surprised to by a feral cat and her four kittens over the previous summer.
We called shelters and humane societies and learned that it was kitten season. They wanted quite a bit to take each cat/kitten in. In the end my parents made a decision. They decided to get them all fixed(had to use a rented live trap) and completely cat-ify their backyard. They built a large cat house with heated mats and two exits. Shingles on the roof, siding, waterproof, camera to make sure they're happy inside and to watch a thermostat to make sure it stayed nice and warm. Put a cat door into a basement room that was locked so our indoor cats can't get out, and anything else can't get in the main house. They even built them a little awning with a large cushion for when it rains or snows. The whole nine yards. The mother cat was adopted by another neighbor and is now an indoor cat. We believe that she was an indoor cat at some point and adapted quickly. Her kittens were extremely skittish and it was difficult to make friends with them. We also asked our neighbors if they were fine with these kittens roaming around. They all agreed and told us that the kittens started to hang out with them. One would sit and watch an older gentleman work on his car and he really enjoyed the company. They still ran if approached though. We were able to slightly socialize them while they ate but they're still hard to catch.
During one of the worst weeks of winter, the only female kitten(now cat), Shadow, went missing. We had her on the cat camera at around 6pm on a Monday. She left towards our neighbors yard. The cats have disappeared for a day or two but usually turned back up. So we were worried but we didn't instantly act. During the third day we walked around the neighborhood calling for her. On the forth, I went into work and printed up fliers. I then handed them to all our neighbors and asked if they've seen her recently. I was given a few fun new stories about some of the cats activities but no one had seen her in a while. I had them check their sheds and garages just in case. I went into the local shelters with the filers, posted about her on all the lost cat sites, and kept looking for her.
On the sixth day, my parents went on a planned trip to Florida. States away. My next door neighbor Cindy, had just returned from her own trip. I told her about Shadow. I left for a bit, and returned a while later after visiting a local feral cat rescue when I decided to call her name a few more times around my backyard. My call was returned.
I thought maybe I was hearing her brothers, but when I called her name, a very dry and loud mew sounded from my next door. In Cindy's garage. I called my parents to give them the news as I ran to her door. I knocked but she wasn't home. I found her niece on facebook and her niece gave me my Cindy's cell phone number. Cindy didn't pick up my call right away. Her niece became our in between communicator. I was told that she was at the store and would be right home.
Hours passed, and each hour I would ask for an update. It was always the same, she's on her way. I kept thinking about how it's been six days since Shadow disappeared in almost zero degree Fahrenheit. As far as I knew, Shadow had had no food or water the entire time. Finally Cindy came home. I threw on my jacket and boots, and ran over. Cindy sat on her deck with a cigarette in her mouth. As soon as she saw me she shouted, "I AM PISSED!" I was filled with adrenaline and my main goal was to get into the garage.
Cindy said some of the following things. Maybe not in order but this is what I was told. "That damn cat better not be crapping and pissing everywhere. I never leave my garage open!(She leaves it open all the time) I left the casino today early because of it!(So it wasn't the store) You should have told me earlier!(She was on a trip, which I later found out was to Las Vegas for gambling and I told her the moment I knew she was home)" She also decided I had to wait so she could have dinner. I convinced her otherwise. I'm also keeping my parents updated.
At first she refused to let me go into the garage. It wasn't filled with much, but it did have tools from her late husband and an old car that was partly disassembled. She was afraid I was using Shadow as an excuse to steal from her. I then called for Shadow and Shadow responded. Her sister came out from the house and told me that she's a cat lover. That she wants to help while also scolding me. Keep in mind that both of these women are pretty old. I'm doing my best to be kind while being yelled at so I can get to Shadow. I remember my voice being shaky because I had been crying.
Finally I was in the garage and a brand new issue showed itself. Shadow had hidden in the semi-disassembled car. The sisters watched as I called for her and kept getting an idea of where she was. Then both the sisters would start yelling for Shadow in their very husky smoker voices. One of the sisters even laid under the car and then complained that she was doing most of the work because she had a bad back. They would leave from time to time and I would almost get Shadow out. Yet Cindy kept thinking that by leaving me alone, that I was taking the time to steal her stuff.
Cindy's sister decided to try three things to get Shadow out of the car because she knows cats so well. Honking her horn while in the garage, banging pots and pans together, and bringing out their dog to scare her out. Their dog just wanted pets so that was a complete fail. I advised them against all the plans. She's in a place she considers safe. It's like a killer coming into my house, knowing I've safely locked myself in a room, then reeving a chainsaw while telling me to run from a place we both know he can't get to. Cindy basically said, "It's not dying in there but we're not taking the car apart." Then left.
I called my parents and my dad told me that he called the fire station a few minutes ago. I was baffled. I didn't think they actually did cat rescues. As I'm told this, a fire engine pulls up in front of Cindy's driveway. I run out to find Cindy pointing at me while very nicely talking to them in the kindest, sweetest, old, lady voice she could muster, "Gentlemen. She has nasty feral cats that run all over the neighborhood! One went into my husband's car. Please! You can't tear it apart. I don't care if the cat dies, just get it out without hurting the car."
They stood around the car confused while trying to calm down Cindy. Cindy kept telling them how horrible the feral cats were and that the cats should be taken them away. Finally they told her that the cats weren't something they deal with and they're not taking them away. Also that if they can't get into her car then they can't do anything. One guy told me to get a live trap before he left.
His suggestion made total sense. I felt stupid for not thinking about it before. Yet I was still scared about how much time had elapsed but Shadow wasn't coming out. I drove to the nearest hardware store that was still open and bought a live trap. I was sobbing the entire time which must have looked odd while I was making the purchase. I came back and set it up. Cindy's sister wanted to do it. She claimed she's done it a million times on her farm, but it was clear she had no idea what she was doing. I set it up quickly, put a blanket over the bottom so the trip pad wasn't obvious, and set down some wet cat food. Then tried to go to bed.
I woke up to a knock on my door. Cindy told me the cat was in the cage. She said it was all because she prayed to a certain angel that found lost things and I should thank her for thinking of it. Cindy's sister was standing at a distance staring at Shadow when I got to the garage. I didn't say much. I picked up the live trap and took Shadow into my house. The cat food was frozen stiff but she scratched some out. I put some dry cat food in there too but she probably scattered it after the live trap was triggered and had caught her.
Shadow stayed in our bathroom for a few days. She must have been eating insects or something because she was moving around pretty well. Only slightly skinnier I made sure she was drinking water, eating food, and able to use the litter box. I let her roam the house a few times. Each time ended with her in a window screaming. She wanted back out. I relocated her to a bedroom and she instantly loved sleeping on the bed. I waited until my parents came back home before we decided to let her go back out.
We've been trying to get the cats to be indoor cats before winter. Or at least mostly indoor cats that visit outside from time to time. They've become comfortable enough outside to mostly trust us. We've been able to have them come inside for half an hour at a time before they panic and run out. I plan on moving out soon with the two indoor cats so there will be enough space for the four 'horrible feral cats' to live inside without any issues.
Cindy on the other hand. She's been retired for a while so she now spends her time with her new hobby. Watching my parents and I go outside to try and socialize the cats or simply to read. She'll sit on her backyard patio facing us, or lean on our fence to make it obvious that she's there. Our house is at an angle to hers so it's odd to see her positioned towards our yard. She's started out by make fake chores by our fence so she could watch us but I guess there's only so many times she can pull weeds in the same spot. Her garage and shed take up most of her yard by our fence so it was usually hard to see her in the first place. She also doesn't come out until we're outside. Otherwise she's rarely in her backyard.
Cindy has her garage open 30%-40% of the time she's home. I don't know if that's on purpose in order to try and catch another cat, or that's how it's started in the first place. Luckily it's been close to a year and the cats rarely leave our yard.
Last few things, feral cat colonies are legal in our state. They do have their ears tipped, have their shots, get flea and tick medicine, and we've positioned cameras to watch their activity. They're fed 2-3 times a day and have only brought us moles after Cindy called an exterminator for her mole problem. Food is brought in after feedings so other animals don't get any ideas. That also gives the cats more of a want to stay in our yard. Heated water bowls for winter. As mentioned before, heated cat house. All the other neighbors gave us the go ahead to keep them. Cindy was one and she hasn't found another issue with them yet. They stay away from yards with dogs so they mostly avoid her area anyway.
