PS4 games that require a constant internet connection

I thought it would be good to get a list together, coundn't find one myself, only people asking which games are offline. These are games that don't have an offline and must be online to be played.
submitted by LegacyToLegend to PS4 [link] [comments]

The Wii U is underwhelming, the next xbox will require constant internet connection, Ps4 won't be backward compatible and used games are being taken out completely. I have a feeling that the biggest gaming industries will ruin gaming and there's only one thing that can save us all...

....The Sega DreamCast 2....lol
Edit: hahahaha, down votes.

Now that the PS4 isn't applying any restrictions to used games or requiring an internet connection to play single player games, how long before Microsoft changes its mind and follows suit?

submitted by CrackerEvan to gaming [link] [comments]

So now that the Xbox One doesn't required 24 internet connection and change their used game policy, which are you buying PS4 or Xbox One?

HITMAN 3 PRE-LAUNCH GUIDE (PROGRESSION CARRYOVER)

https://www.ioi.dk/hitman-3-pre-launch-guide/
---
Welcome to the HITMAN 3 Pre-launch guide. This blog post will be our place to share in-depth details about HITMAN 3, including how to carryover your progression, our new Access Pass system, what to expect on launch day and more.
We are excited to see all of our players embark on Agent 47’s next journey and experience the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy.
Before you start reading, this is how the game begins.

Release Details

HITMAN 3 will be available on 20 January 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Stadia, Nintendo Switch and PC.
We’re happy to confirm that the Nintendo Switch version of HITMAN 3 will also launch on 20 January. The Switch version of HITMAN 3 is playable via cloud streaming technology. A stable and permanent internet connection is required to play.
Release Time HITMAN 3 will release simultaneously on all platforms at 13:00 UTC on 20 January 2021. To see the exact release time in your timezone, follow this link. This release time will ensure that the IOI teams in Copenhagen and Malmö are best-placed to ensure a smooth launch. At that time, digital copies will be available to play and the games servers will be online.
📷
Pre-load It will be possible to pre-load HITMAN 3 on PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Make sure that you’ve configured your console to do that and the downloads will begin when they have been prepared and certified. On PC, there won’t be a pre-load option for HITMAN 3 and downloads will begin at the above release time.
(For PS4 and PS5 owners in Asia, please note that HITMAN 3 will not be available for pre-order or pre-load. This is due to recent changes in the age ratings systems in those regions. HITMAN 3 will be available for purchase at the above time.)
Day One Patch HITMAN 3 will require a day one patch for all disc users. The day one patch will be automatically applied to digital players. This patch will include access to the VR mode for PlayStation users and will include the remaining locations that are not included on the disc.
Game Size HITMAN 3 will take up approximately 60-70 GB of storage space on all platforms, with the obvious exceptions of Stadia and Switch. The data that you download will also include all the content required to access HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 – but you are still required to own/purchase access to those games. To underline that; purchasing HITMAN 3 does not grant access to the previous two games by default.
Using this method allows us to reduce the file size for all players to 60-70 GB and has the benefit of making the process of redeeming or purchase access to HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 as simple as possible. (We talk about that more later). Also, we want to clarify that reducing the file size doesn’t mean that we’ve made any compromises on the visual/audio quality of the game. If you’re curious about the technical aspects that made this possible, we recently talked to PC Gamer about it.

HITMAN 3 - Editions

There are two editions of HITMAN 3; The Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition.
– The Standard Edition includes the HITMAN 3 base game. Nice and simple. – The Deluxe Edition includes the HITMAN 3 base game and the Deluxe Pack. Again, nice and simple.
The only difference between the two editions is the Deluxe Pack, which includes 6 Deluxe Escalations, in-game suits, items and weapons, a digital soundtrack for each game in the World of Assassination trilogy, an introduction to each HITMAN 3 campaign mission by the Game Director and a digital artbook that highlights the characters, targets and missions included in the trilogy. A free IOI Account is required to download the digital soundtracks and World of HITMAN Art Book.
Here’s a visual look at everything that’s packed into the HITMAN 3 Deluxe Edition:
📷
Next-gen Upgrade Console players who pre-order or purchase a physical or digital copy of HITMAN 3 (either Standard or Deluxe) on the current generation of consoles (PS4/Xbox One), will receive a free upgrade to the next-gen version of the game for no additional cost. Note that you won’t be able to receive the next-gen upgrade if you purchase HITMAN 3 on disc and you own a disc-free next gen console.
When making a digital purchase, you will automatically be entitled to download the next-gen version when you access the game on that console.
When making a physical disc purchase, you’ll need to insert the current gen disc into your next gen console and you’ll be able to download the next-gen version for no additional cost. Simply keep the disc in your machine whenever you want to play and you’ll be good to go.
Pre-order Bonus The HITMAN 3 pre-order bonus celebrates all three games in the World of Assassination trilogy. Introducing the Trinity Pack. You’ll get it just by pre-ordering the game, no matter what platform or edition.
The Trinity Pack includes a total of 9 items, with 3 distinct sets that represent a different game from the trilogy. Each set includes a suit, briefcase and weapon. From the White of HITMAN 1, the Red of HITMAN 2 or the Black of HITMAN 3, you’ll have all 9 items in your inventory to mix and match as you like. The classic Hitman insignia is etched onto the items in gold to add an elegant flourish.
Note: The Trinity Pack will not be included with either the Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition after January 20.
📷
At selected retailers, pre-ordering a physical edition of HITMAN 3 will also include an exclusive physical passport. This unique item is filled with details and references from Agent 47’s career and commemorates 20 years of Hitman. See the list of retailers in our previous pre-order blog post.

Progression Carryover

All current HITMAN 2 players will be able to carryover their hard-earned progression into HITMAN 3.
After completing the carryover process, HITMAN 2 players will be able to start HITMAN 3 with their existing player profile, XP rank, location mastery levels, location mastery unlocks, challenge progress, challenge unlocks and Elusive Target suits/unlocks. All of those things are what we call ‘progression’. It’s not possible to pick and choose elements to carryover. It’s all or nothing.
The carryover process requires an IOI Account and can only be done through a web browser, it’s not possible to do it in-game. We will have the website ready to go before launch, but it is not live yet. Once it is ready, we will share the news via ioi.dk and update this post.
📷
Here’s more about how it will work:
– Progression can only be carried over from HITMAN 2, including progression you have from the Legacy Pack (HITMAN 1 locations within HITMAN 2).
– Progression can only be carried over from within the same platform. There are only three options:
HITMAN 2 (PlayStation) → HITMAN 3 (PlayStation) HITMAN 2 (Xbox) → HITMAN 3 (Xbox) HITMAN 2 (PC/Steam) → HITMAN 3 (PC/Epic)
Note: “PlayStation” = PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5. “Xbox” = Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
Essentially, it doesn’t matter what specific console you have earned progression on. It only matters that progression can only move forward and within the same console ‘family’.
– Progression carryover is a one-time process, meaning once you have performed a carryover for a particular platform, you will not be able to do so again at a later time.
– If you have played HITMAN 2 on multiple platforms, you CAN perform a carryover for EACH of those profiles, but only within the same platform, as listed above. For example, if you play H2 on Xbox and PlayStation, you can carryover your H2 Xbox progression into H3 Xbox and independently carryover your H2 PlayStation progress into H3 PlayStation.
– When you complete the carryover process, your existing HITMAN 2 progress will remain as it is (i.e it will not be removed/deleted). However, your progression in H2 and H3 will NOT be synchronised.
– If you have already started playing HITMAN 3 and THEN choose to perform the progression carryover process, you will lose all progression earned within HITMAN 3 up to that point. We recommend you carryover progress before starting HITMAN 3.
📷
What exactly will be carried over?
When you start the process, you will need to select an account that you have linked to your IOI Account. You will then be able to review the HITMAN 2 progress earned on that account and confirm that you want to perform the carryover process into HITMAN 3.
The following progression will be included in the carryover process: player profile, XP rank, location mastery levels, location mastery unlocks, challenge progress, challenge unlocks and Elusive Target suits/unlocks. Savegame files are not carried over.
Note that there are a small amount of items/unlocks that are not carried over through this process, such as the rewards unlocked through the HITMAN 1 GOTY Escalations, becuase they are linked to a purchase. Those items will be available in HITMAN 3 when you redeem access to the associated content. In addition, the ICA Electrocution Phone has been retired and will not be available in HITMAN 3.
HITMAN 3 on Stadia On Stadia, all progression that players have earned in Hitman: World of Assassination (from both H1 and H2) will automatically ‘carryover’ to HITMAN 3. For additional clarity, Stadia and PC are two different platforms and progress cannot be shared or carried over between them.
HITMAN 3 on Nintendo Switch Progression carryover is not possible on Nintendo Switch because HITMAN 2 is not available on that platform as a standalone game.

Access Pass FAQ

HITMAN 3 allows players to access locations from the previous games in the trilogy (H1 and H2) and play them all under one roof. Essentially, we have setup H1 and H2 as DLC for HITMAN 3. You can buy or redeem/download an Access Pass and get access to its content within H3. For example, if you buy the HITMAN 2 Standard Access Pass DLC for HITMAN 3, you’ll get access to the locations and missions included in the HITMAN 2 Standard Edition within HITMAN 3.
📷
In addition to the option of purchasing an Access Pass, it is also possible to redeem/download an Access Pass for no additional cost, if you have already purchased that content from the same store that you have pre-ordered or purchased HITMAN 3.
To make this happen, we detect what you already have installed for HITMAN 2 and can make the corresponding Access Pass available for no additional cost on the same store. Note: If you only own HITMAN 1, you will need to import that content into HITMAN 2 first, via the instructions in our Legacy Pack FAQ.
This process will work between console generations. For example, if you own HITMAN 2 on PS4, you’ll be able to download the HITMAN 2 Access Pass DLC in HITMAN 3 for both PS4 and PS5. The same applies for the Xbox family of consoles as well.
We know that’s a lot of information, but once you’ve seen all of the Access Pass options, and there are five in total, it will make more sense.

HITMAN 3 Access Pass on PC We’ve done everything possible to make this process smooth and player-friendly. However, due to various circumstances out of our control, we want to acknowledge that the process is different to our initial plans for PC players. We also want to share some of the initiatives we’ve set-up to make sure that PC players the chance to keep enjoying the benefits of the World of Assassination.
Our hope is that these initiatives help to ensure all HITMAN 3 PC players can able to enjoy the new game with full access to HITMAN 1 and their progression carried over as a minimum.
HITMAN 3 Access Pass on Stadia Due to the convenient set-up of HITMAN 1-3 on Stadia, the Access Pass system is not required. Players will continue to have access to the locations they already own through Hitman: World of Assassination, or can purchase the games that they don’t own through the Stadia Store.
HITMAN 3 Access Pass on Switch HITMAN 3 is the first game in the trilogy to be available on Switch. As such, each relevant Access Pass is available for purchase through the HITMAN 3 in-game store.

HITMAN VR

At launch, HITMAN 3 will support PS VR and all locations in the World of Assassination trilogy can be experienced in a new first-person perspective. Yes, that means you can traverse the outside of the tallest building in the (Hitman) world in PS VR! If you own the previous games from the trilogy on PS4, you can also access locations from them within HITMAN 3. That’s more than 20 Hitman locations from the World of Assassination trilogy to enjoy in PS VR.
📷
You can either play HITMAN 3 in PS VR natively on your PS4 or via backward compatibility on PS5. To make sure all PS VR owners can experience the game in VR, we’re including a free digital copy of the PS4 version of HITMAN 3 with all PS5 copies, whether you choose to buy it via disc or digital.
If you are playing on PS5, your progress between the PS4 (VR) and PS5 (non-VR) versions is shared between the two versions. You’ll be able to play the non-VR version of HITMAN 3 on PS5 with the next-gen improvements that we support (including Dual Sense support!) and then switch to the PS4 version for VR and all of your items and unlocks will be right there waiting for you. You will need to have both versions of the game installed on your PS5 to make that happen.
📷
Whether you play on PS4 or PS5, a DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller is required to play HITMAN 3 in VR. Playing HITMAN 3 in VR on PS5 also requires a PlayStation Camera adaptor. For full details on the requirements for playing PS VR on your PS5, including how to order a free PlayStation Camera adaptor, see the official PlayStation PS VR site.

More to come

📷
We have got our sights firmly set on January 20 and our entire team is doing everything in our power to make the launch of HITMAN 3 as successful as possible. It’s an incredibly exciting time for us to be so close to releasing our next game, as well as deliver the dramatic conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy.
Please keep the conversation going on Twitter, Discord, Reddit and in HitmanForum and be excellent to each other.

Ps Now poor performance?

I am playing on a ps4 pro. I have tried God of War HD yesterday but after 15 mins I just lost connection with the server. Before that I played with R&C: Quest for Booty and after 30 mins the games started to lag and due to the poor server connection or (something like that) I had to close the game. I didnt played with it since then. So is my BT internet too weak or is the ps servers sucks? What should I do?
I have heard that ps now requires good ping, right? But what is good ping means? I have tested BT internet on speedtest and its says my ping is 34 ms and the download speed is 64 Mbps.

The Ultimate guide for OFFLINE features, split-screen, Bots, LAN Play in Cold War

1.11 UPDATE NEW FEATURES ZOMBIES HAS SPLIT SCREEN OFFLINE NOW!

1.11 update news

-Zombies now allows 2 player split-screen in offline, you can add a controller as well as start/boot the match fine, however the same issues persist with offline split-screen, visual/menu glitches/bugs just like the normal multiplayer split-screen
-Multiplayer offline split-screen is working again, it seems to have all the same issues it had prior to the 1.09 update where it got broken, rough menus, class selection not working in certain scenarios, I've also found Nuketown 84 in split-screen will crash every time it loads into the match...etc etc.
- RAID and PINES map are available offline now
-Prop hunt is available offline now, however no bot support.

1.10 update - literally nothing added for offline

1.09 update - literally nothing added for offline

KNOWN MAJOR OFFLINE ISSUES/BUGS all present in latest 1.08 'season one' version (tested on PS4/PS5) Please read these as it may answer some questions instead of posting a comment.

*NEW BUG/GLITCH as of V.08\*
- V1.08 you can no longer play split-screen offline, when adding player 2, it will attempt to add player 2 and just fail each time....
- when playing split-screen multiplayer (versus) player 2 can do create-a-class but only edit the main weapon, they can not edit any attachments
- when playing split-screen multiplayer (versus) often player 2 can not select a class when starting the match at all.

- offline zombies has no option for split-screen or adding a controller when playing offline period (unsure if this is a glitch or the fact zombies has no split-screen option offline at all
- online zombies, has the option to add a second player for split-screen, but even when you do this the game won't launch and will often come up with a error stating this mode has exceeded the maximum amount of players, (unsure if ths is a glitch or the fact zombies isn't supposed to be split-screen at all)
- Search and Destroy and VIP Escort modes, do not support offline bots at all
- the maps Armada and Crossroads do not support offline bots at all currently for any mode
- the maps Armada and Crossroads have a small variant for normal modes, however when playing VIP escort mode only, you get the full expanded large scale combined arms map (with vehicles) however again no offline bot support, unsure if this is a glitch or not.
- various interface/menu bugs within the menus/lobbys
- multiple instances of glitches when playing in split-screen, gunsights missing/notloading, hands dissappearing etc etc.
- multiple settings not working, loadout restrictions settings completely broken and not working right, guns misnamed, M82 is called the XM4 etc and turning off or enabling what is supposed to be the M82 turns off both or enables both the M82 and XM4, really broken.
- I have to do more testing but I've had two instances on PS5 where my campaign save will dissappear completely after playing split-screen multiplayer.
- unsure if a glitch or designed this way.
If you find any bugs/issues or fixes that I haven't do let me know in the comments or flick me a PM, Finding new stuff every time I play it.
I'll endeavour to keep this guide updated over the next couple of months, do be with me as I can't update EXACTLY on time every time a new update comes out..
All testing done with the PS4 and PS5 version of the game (v1.03) (now updated to V1.07)
I have updated the game now to V1.05, I can confirm nothing has changed for offline with this update, what is down below is still current including no OFFLINE split-screen option for Zombies and the Crossroads/Armada maps still do not support bots.
I now have the PS4 as well as the PS5 version of the game, It's exactly the same, nothing additional, no extra bots/maps/modes/features, exactly the same issues, exactly the same stuff.
Some people are asking about the Dualsense for it, it's neat, the guns all feel slightly different, so the resistive triggers have different 'pulls' for different weapons, big LMGs the aiming trigger is a slow steady pull where as a pistol is very lightweight and barely any resistance, the vibration stuff, pretty standard, although again every gun feels a little different, nothing mind blowing, but neat feature. Astros Playroom on the other hand is amazing for the dualsense.
All testing done on PS4 Pro and PS5, running in an offline environment, no internet on the console, boot from cold startup, booting up Black Ops Cold War OFFLINE and playing OFFLINE.
This guide is aimed at people who enjoy the offline part of Call of Duty (yes there are people like us) If you play online thats fine, no need to make a stupid comment like "why are you playing offline in 2020 what a loser etc etc"
I've done this for several years, this guide is for fans of offline play and aimed to get CORRECT information to people who need it

FAQ Starts here

What do you mean when you use the word OFFLINE?
To clear up any confusion as many people seem to confuse the terms OFFLINE and LOCAL PLAY, these are two VERY different things.
If I use the word OFFLINE in this guide at any point, I mean OFFLINE, no internet on the console, no WiFi, no Ethernet, Console as well as game has been cold booted with NO INTERNET WHATSOEVER.
Can you play Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War OFFLINE without an internet connection?
Yes once your game is at version 1.03 (latest current version at time of release) You can play the game fully offline.
Like Modern Warfare 2019, the game is quite large (100.4GB for PS4 at of time of writing) It also like Modern Wafare 2019 is divided into PACKS
The Base game has the following PACKS, which you need to have installed if you want to play every mode available.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Single Player LicenseCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer License
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies License
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Campaign 1
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Campaign 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Campaign 3
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Multiplayer Base Install
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Zombies Base Install
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Dead Ops Arcade Pack
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Content 1 - 6 License (1 file for each) ( I believe this is just DLC stuff)
The console versions like WWII, Black Ops 4 and Modern Warfare 2019 will work OFFLINE after patching/updating, the PC version however due to Battlenet is ONLINE ONLY, even for Campaign/offline bots.
Can you install and play Black Ops Cold War from the disc without installing any updates/patches?
No you can not, like Call of Duty WWII, Black Ops 4, and Modern Warfare 2019 before it, the physical copies of the game do not contain all the files nor can you play the full experience OFFLINE via the disc only, you can only play a few multiplayer maps vs bots, thats it.
*A MANDATORY INSTALLATION/UPDATE IS REQUIRED FIRST\*
Can you play the Campaign OFFLINE?
Yes as mentioned before, as long as you have updated your game to the minimum version of 1.03 (latest current release) the games campaign will be playable OFFLINE.
Can you play the multiplayer (versus) OFFLINE?
Yes as mentioned before, as long as you have updated your game to the minimum version of 1.03 (latest current release) the games multiplayer will be playable OFFLINE.
Can you play the Zombies mode OFFLINE?
Yes as mentioned before, as long as you have updated your game to the minimum version of 1.03 (latest current release) the games multiplayer will be playable OFFLINE.
**Can you play the Zombies Onslaught mode OFFLINE? (exclusive to PS4/PS5 for 1 year)**yes
Is there Split-screen support in mutliplayer versus?
Versus Multiplayer has 2 players split-screen per console maximum
Is there split-screen support in Zombies?
EDIT: Version 1.11 has finally added the ability to play zombies OFFLINE split-screen, however its still rough, but it does work.
Is there co-op campaign or split-screen campaign?
Campaign is single player only.

What does the aspect ratio for split-screen look like? Is there any 'black bars' on the sides?
Split-screen for multiplayer versus has both Vertical and Horizontal options.
Horizontal split-screen (TOP and BOTTOM) has black bars on the left and right.Vertical split-screen (LEFT and RIGHT) has black bars on the top and bottom.
Is there OFFLINE LAN support, (2 or more systems connected offline for multiplayer) ?
You can play 2 players PER CONSOLE in multiplayer versus. Zombies is ONE PER CONSOLE currently, LAN is broken though unless you go online and download temporary hotfixes, so basically you need all consoles to be online, connected to servers, get hotfixes (so every game/console is on the same version and then it will work) this is the exact same issue Modern Warfare has. Its stupid. true proper OFFLINE LAN play is pretty much broken in the last two CODs.

OFFLINE BOT SUPPORT

Is there offline bot (AI Enemies/teammates) support?Which modes support them? How many Bots per mode?
Yes there are offline bots
you can have a total of 12 players in each core game mode, so if playing SOLO, you can have 11 bots.
I can confirm if playing split-screen you can still have 11 bots in the game total.Previous versions of the game only supported 7 bots in TDM and FFA game modes, this was fixed in V1.07. all modes support 11 bots.
you can not add bots to the Crossroads or Armada maps at all.
VIP Escort and Search and Destroy game modes do not support offline bots.
Can you make assymetrical/uneven teams?
Yes, however you can't go over the maximum of 6 players per each team,
So you can't for example do a team death match with you on one team vs 11 bots on the other team.
6 v 6 max
How many players can play each mode? (assume bots means players too here)
2 REAL players in split-screen and up to 11 bots (6 players/bots per team)
Edit: I didn't notice before as I mainly play objective modes not FFA or Team Deathmatch,
If you play Free-for-all or Team Deathmatch the bots cap at 7, not 11
What difficulties are there for the bots?
Recruit, Regular, Hardened, Veteran
are there loadout restrictions and can we force the bots to use certain loadouts?
There is an option for loadout restrictions in the menu, however It dosen't affect bots, you can turn off custom classes but sadly there again is no option to set what the DEFAULT classes are (like how Modern Warfare Remastered allows)
Right now the restrictions screen is VERY broken, half of the weapons are sharing the same name, for example the M82 Sniper rifle is incorrectly labelled as the XM4 (assault rifle) I turned off EVERYTHING but the M82 but it has the XM4 enabled (as its obviously broken) I have turned off everything but the XM4 and there are still weapons that are accessible.
So hard one to test right now, It's restricting some weapons but I can only tell from the player side no the bot side, Patches are needed to test this feature properly.
are there friendly/teammate bots for Zombies mode?
No there are no friendly AI/teammates/bots in Zombies mode.
What are the bots like, and how do they play?
I've had a quick go (I'll update this more later) but they feel like how they did in MW 2019.

Create-a-Class/Loadouts/Customisation

Is there an offline progression system? or is everything unlocked for offline play?
There is no offline progression system, everything is unlocked from the start, all attachments, gear, weapons etc is available offline from the start
What about customisation/camos etc?
Yes you can apply camos, change reticles offline, it looks like everything is unlocked here
What is available in offline create-a-class?
A ton, I'll add a video in the comments later with a showcase of everything, it's comparable to how MW was at launch.
How many custom classes can you have? can you save/rename them?
You can have 5 custom classes per player offline, yes you can rename/save them.
What Operators are available offline?
All launch Operators are available offline
NATO:
Mil-Sim:
HunterSong
Operators:
ParkAdlerBakerSimsWoods
Warsaw Pact
Mil-Sim:
VargasPowers
Operators:
PortnovaBeckGarciaStone

Multiplayer VERSUS

What game modes are available offline?
Team DeathmatchFree-For-AllSearch & DestoryDominationHardpointControlVIP Escort
What about the Larger Combined Arms modes?
Although the maps like Crossroads (which was the big snowy map in the beta with snowmobiles etc) are here, these are not the combined arms versions, these are smaller cut down versions of these maps, you can only do 6 v 6 in offline.
Is there a realism mode? or Hardcore Mode?
No realism mode, there is no hardcore 'mode' like MW2019, however there are Hardcore versions of TDM, FFA, SND, and DOM.
What multiplayer maps are available?
ArmadaCartelCheckmateCrossroadsGarrisonMiamiMoscowSatelliteNuketown 84 (added for offline in update V1.07)
What interesting custom game settings are there? anything different/new?
Nothing out of the ordinary, all pretty standard fare at launch.
Can I save custom game modes OFFLINE?
Yes you can save them.

Zombies

Is everything unlocked for create-a-class?
Yes, everything is unlocked, it's the same weapon selection from multiplayer versus, however you get 1 weapon, not 2, and a field upgrade which are zombies themed special powers.
Is there settings like in Black Ops 4, where you could adjust zombies/custom game settings?
Sadly no, it seems very scaled back more like the normal zombies modes from the older Black Ops games.
What modes are available for zombies offline?
Round based (standard zombies)Dead Ops arcade 3 (top down twin-stick shooter mini game mode)Onslaught (PS4/PS5 Exclusive for 1 year)
What maps/scenarios are available for offline zombies?
Round based (standard zombies)
Die Maschine
**Dead Ops Arcade 3 (mini game)**Rise of the Mamaback
Onslaught
Moscow (same as the multiplayer Moscow map....just with zombies)
What is onslaught mode anyway?
so its basically a VIP escort thing, you have a floating orb, that has a protective cirlce around it, you need to stay in the circle to live, zombies come at you, you shoot em, orb moves to a new location, rinse and repeat. Neat but you aren't missing much if you are a PC/Xbox player.

Stadia vs xcloud / game pass ultimate vs ps now / remote play vs Luna

Hello Stadians,
First post here. I joined the cult not long ago after extensive research and since my post on red flag deals about Stadia has gained much traction, I decided to post it here for future Stadians or people who might be interested. Information is spread out across many sources, so I am trying to bring all current cloud services together into one giant post. If you want to spread the message to people who are on the fence, please use this post as you like, you are free to share this. Please correct me if I got anything wrong since I am still new to the game. Here goes :
PART #1 :
Stadia is still very new to a lot of people but have gained quite a bit of attention recently due to Google freely handing out hardware. However, it is still largely misunderstood.
Unlike what many people think there it's either one or the other, Stadia is so versatile that it can complement anything (ps5, xbox, pc, mobile gaming). It doesn't have to be one or the other. You can sub, or you can just buy a game and play it whenever and wherever you want as long as you have a stable Internet connection.
The most important thing is to test it out for FREE. Go on your chrome browser, log in with your gmail account, and click on Destiny 2. No downloads, no load times, no patches, no wait times, no hidden fees, no hardware requirements, just play it for free indefinitely on any toaster computer you are running as long as you have a stable connection.
Like it ? Then don't be afraid to buy some games during their sales if they are cheaper on Stadia than other platforms. You will be able to play is as long as you have an stable Internet connection.
Don't listen to people who says Stadia is going away like some of Google's retired products. If anything, it's expanding and the future of gaming is streaming. Say goodbye to overpriced hardwares that expire or games that don't run properly on newer hardwares. Say goodbye to having to buy the same game on xbox, pc, mobile. Say goodbye to load times, storage limits, hardware problems like the ps4 pro making absurb noise.
Don't listen to people wo says Stadia has awful lag - they either have a bad connection or only tested Stadia at launch. With a good reliable connection with at least 35mbps download, there is absolutely no way the input lag will bother you unless you do competitive gaming. Everyone has their own experience with Stadia and best is to try it out yourself and not listen to people - it's free anyway with zero hurdles.
Don't listen to people claiming Stadia has a very limited library. Stadia launched roughly 1 year ago compared to xbox / steam / ps who have been there for ages. Obviously, you won't have the same library. Stadia is about to lock in 400+ games this year alone and more to come. Library size shouldn't matter since you do not have to pay or commit to anything. If you don't like what Stadia has to offer right now, just set it aside - you aren't losing out or anything. Your hardware is not going to expire, you aren't paying a dime to have a Stadia account, you have zero commitment necessary.
I hope this sums up the debate and why everyone should at least give Stadia a chance and try it out on your browser right now and experience the future of gaming. Zero commitment needed.

PART #2 : This is the part where I try to summarize each available streaming service and compare it to Stadia as of today.
PS Remote Play, which has pretty much been given up by Sony because they want to focus on PS5 hardware, is basically a service that allows you to connect to your own hardware to play games you own on your PS4 / PS5. You have the same limitations than your current hardware. Therefore, if your game only runs on 30FPS on PS4, it will only run 30FPS remotely. Your hardware will also eventually expire as new games get developed that require more juice. Last time I checked, remote play on PS4 Pro is capped at 720p. Since the connection has to jump through 2 loops (from your PS to Internet, and from the Internet back to your device), you will definitely feel a latency while streaming your games. Stadia is running off of a dedicated hardware and servers straight to the device you're streaming on, while the PS4/5 remote play has no server and uses your hardware.
PS Now is a service you need to pay either 12.99$ CAD a month or commit to $79.99 CAD for a whole year (20% off during BF sale, good value). It has its own dedicated servers so latency should be better. However, as of now, games are still being streamed at 720p only, and hopefully 1080p soon. A plus side is the access to a bigger library, potentially bigger than what xbox game pass ultimate has to offer. You can also download PS4/5 games to play offline unlike Stadia where a stable connection is required at all times. However, you need an online check every 7 days and the offline service only works on your PS4/5 hardware. if you use this service, some games can leave the platform on a rotation basis (about 10 out of 800 games available) and you don't own any games unless you buy them on the PS store. If your subscription expires, you'll lose access to the downloaded games and any DLC associated with it. As noted by redditors here, you do get plenty of time to finish the game and a notice ahead of time before rotation begins.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate cost 16.99$ CAD a month and provides the best library of games on a rotation basis, and is now combined with xbox gold meaning you can claim free games every month that you can keep as long as you are subbed, like Stadia Pro. The game selection is arguably better than PS Now, and is much more varied than Stadia. The biggest downside is that Game Pass Ultimate only offers 720p streaming as of now and I have noticed many more players reporting latency issues with Game Pass compared to Stadia. Just like PS now, Game Pass Ultimate is like a rental service where you don't get to keep any games unless you keep paying a fee. The difference with Stadia is that your money is exchanged for games you can keep with regular Stadia. You keep the games you bought and they do offer some free to play games like Destiny 2 and more to come eventually. However, free version of Stadia is capped at 1080p 60fps with stereo sound.
Geforce Now from Nvidia costs 6.49$ CAD a month to play, or offered free but you are limited to 1-hour sessions only, which is quite stressful in my opinion. It basically uses your steam games library and allows you to stream them using their cloud servers. If you have a big library of steam games, I can see a good reason to use Geforce Now. However, their cloud servers are much much smaller than Google (obviously). For new games, you have to wait for them to become available on the service if the game requires different specs, since Nvidia has to make Steam games compatible with their service first. Due to their small servers, 2 years after their launch, they have yet announced support for 4k streaming and yet to have their own exclusives. This is only a good option if you have a huge amount of steam games and want to access those games outside of your PC.
Luna offers game streaming for 7.99$ CAD (note that this is their entry price, and I will guarantee you this price will get a bump once their service is more widely known) . They have a bigger game library than Stadia but a lot of players claim that their games aren't as quality (filled with indie games and less AAA titles). However, Stadia has much better latency because Amazon servers are more tailored towards enterprise usage rather than customer. Another downside to Luna is that it doesn't offer a free service compared to Stadia, but time will tell.
To me, the main selling point for Stadia is this : no commitment required.
With other services, you either have to pay to use their service or buy their hardware, or both. A paywall is the highest obstacle to a new user base and Google knows that. No other services would allow you to create a free account, go on your chrome browser, and play Destiny 2 (other free games will be announced soon) right away without any hardware check. You can play Destiny 2 on a toaster computer, a TV with a Chromecast Ultra dongle and all you need is keyboard + mouse, or any controller you can find. Stadia can accommodate those with little to no interest to build a 1,000 $ CAD PC to keep up with current games (to eventually expire and have to upgrade again) and Stadia doesn't require you to buy consoles, have console hardwares expire, compatibility issues with previous games, update games, run out of storage room.
All you need to ask yourself is : do you want to play this game or not ?
You are not pressured to finish a game before it rotates out.
You are not forced to pay to play - you buy and own.
You don't have to think about compatibility issues nor hardware issues.
If Stadia manages to secure more AAA and exclusive titles, they will be an even more fearful competitor to other game streaming services.
Cloud gaming is still very young but it is the future. We don't know when it will happen, but one day, it will be the Netflix of gaming.

2020-11-26 EDIT : Thank you so much for all the feedback guys, I stand corrected on many points you guys put forward and I appreciate the time you put to read through my wall of text.
EDIT 2 : Updated PS Now to include 10 games out of 800 that gets rotated out and library size potentially bigger than xbox's.
EDIT 3 : correction on stadia servers vs amazon luna's

From PS4 to PS5: Here's How Upgrading to Next-Gen Affects the Console Genshin Experience.

Hey all, I'm sure by now you've heard of the upgrades Genshin Impact receives upon upgrading to the Playstation 5 (4k, 60fps, etc). If you're on the fence about upgrading, or just curious about how the new system affects gameplay, I thought I'd give a detailed rundown of my observations from yesterday and today.
I'll go down the list of noteworthy observations, things I feel did/did not change significantly, etc. Ask me anything if it hasn't been covered below.
PS4 to PS5 Data Transfer:
The data transfer was overall painless. Genshin is not a particularly large game, even with the 1.1 addition. For normal games, the PS4-to-PS5 transfer requires you having your PS4 and PS5 on at the same time, but because Genshin is digital-only, you can simply download it straight from your Playstation library.
With a wired connection and "nothing special" Internet, it took me about 10 minutes. Genshin Impact will download everything it needs in a short session at the Login cinematic, similar to logging in every day. No special actions required.
Graphics/FPS:
Night and Day. While not all PS5 upgrades are noticeable, this one makes Genshin look and feel very different, in a very good way.
If you've watched PC streamers playing this game, I'm sure you'll've been jealous of the "smoothness" of their game at one time or another. Well, now you have it. A consistent, lag-free 60fps makes this game look and feel as incredible as it should. No more spamming "Character Change" or hitting the same mushroom six times before you actually pick it up.
Movement, input, and graphics all feel updated, smoother, and more like a modern game should. You'll genuinely feel like you're moving faster (you might actually be, considering input lag) as you traverse the world, both outside and in dungeons.
PS5 Load Times
I'll go over a few different "load" times here because, if you play on PS4, you know Genshin has a shit-ton of load times. Here's a general breakdown of my experience.
Starting the Game: This one is... faster, but still not fast. I was a little worried at first, because this still takes a longer-than-expected time to load in. Given the PS5's bravado about faster load-times, this one isn't all that impressive. However, it is still faster than previously, down by a good 10-15 seconds or so. We all know how long this is, so that makes a big difference.
Menus: This is now instant, and I'm not using that word lightly. If you play on PS5, you know how frustrating it can be to roll through menus and constantly get caught on something, or double-click through to the wrong setup. Everything is, in a word, instant. This is by far one of the best upgrades.
Changing characters is no longer a chore. Grabbing food is immediate. You don't need to load your Adventurer's Handbook for 2 hours between pages! Instant, instant, instant. It's lovely. You'll love it.
Teleportation: Like loading into the game, I was a little disappointed in this one. Yes, it is faster than PS4, but not by much. Ala Breath of the Wild and Horizon: Zero Dawn, the farther away from a point, the longer it takes to teleport there. And while you definitely shave off 5-10 seconds, it is not all that noticeable. Faster travel, but not the "fast travel" I was hoping the PS5 would be capable of.
Co-Op: Despite my previous point, I am glad to report that Co-Op is now lightning-quick. You will no longer need to be the person who pre-copies a message like "Need another invite plz" and "Sorry, PS4 loads slow, inv again" before your daily runs. You'll now be the guy waiting on everyone else. Congratulations! Quip away.
Seriously, it is vastly superior. I regularly outpaced everyone else in load-times coming into the host's world, and was (for once) not the person everyone is waiting on at the bottom of the stairs. If you play on PS4, you know that doesn't feel great. If you play on PC, you know how annoying it is. PS5 bypasses all that with exceptional Co-Op connection and load times, both in-domain and entering/leaving the host's world.
Domains will go much, much faster for you. And you don't have to stare at "You've been kicked" for 40 seconds straight. That one always hurt.
Overall Performance/Lag:
Without doubling up too much on what I said regarding 60fps, overall performance feels much better. You very rarely lag during high-intensity elemental reactions anymore, which can take some getting used to. I haven't yet, even when mixing 4 elements in Anemo MC's Swirl, so that's saying something.
It feels easier to time dodges and swap characters, and movement/actions feel much smoother and react more quickly to your input. It's how the game should have been before... but we'll take what we can get.
Conclusion:
While some load times are less impressive than you might think, the overall game gets a massive boost in performance and feel. It will, as stated above, feel like a different game when you first open it. 60fps is incredible, and the improved inventory and movement will take your "30 minutes of Dailies, Resin, and log-off" gameplay to a solid "20 minutes of Dailies, Resin, and log-off."
...Just kidding. But seriously, I wouldn't break the piggy bank for Genshin Impact alone, but if you plan to continue utilizing your Playstation library and want the bonuses I've detailed above to apply to a host of other games you may own, I highly recommend making the switch. It's a significant quality and quality-of-life improvement game-wise. This is my first-person experience with the new system, so you can get an idea of what is/isn't a worthwhile upgrade for you.
Hope this helps answer some of your "200-damage-per-second burning" questions.

Beyond frustrated pairing controllers

First of, Stadia is my main gaming platform with numerous games purchased, incl. Cyberpunk and AC Valhalla. In other words, I have ditched my Xbox and PS4 (as well as for the next gen) and gone all in on Stadia.
I got two Premiere Editions controllers (both me and my gf use Stadia on a daily basis) and a CCU. When playing on a CCU it works like a charm. So elegant and smooth. However, once in a while (read "daily") my gf and I want to game at the same time which requires one of us taking the CCU and TV while the other game through Chrome on the PC with two different accounts (whoever comes last gets the PC). This is where the frustration starts. Because the controllers are / have been connected to the CCU, they BOTH auto-connect to the CCU and whatever account is using the CCU. Now you might think "ah that's an easy fix. Just hold the Stadia button for two vibrations instead of one so you can re-pair the controller you want for the PC and the other account".
Yes, on paper that's how it should work. But in 99 out of a 100 times it doesn't. What happens then? After the second vibrations, you enter the four digit code but instead of vibrating with white light and pairs to the PC it vibrates in the wrong way and flash orange like it was a wrong code entered.
No matter if - you make the controller vibrates once and quickly enter the code - you retry with two vibrations and re-pair again - you turn the controller on by holding Y and then the Stadia button, reconnect to the internet and then type in the code - you do a FACTORY RESET by holding the Screen Capture and Google Assistant button, re-setup the controller from scratch, and then type in the code - or you use Chrome through incognito
None if the above works. It will not connect to a new device and new account. I can see on the sub I am not the only one (link). I have tried the steps suggested, but it's like the other post says; it's random when it works.
Come on Stadia. Seriously, add a fix. And no, it's not a faulty controller. I ordered two with 5 months between and it's the case for both.
Anyone who can help?

Some Ideas for some quality of life changes that could be put in the game

So I had some ideas for some changes I think would just be very nice to have in this game for a more relaxing experience.
Changes for online mode.
I know we all have been there when we lost to a toixc player or spammers it happens from time to time but the worst part is when they will make you wait the full countdown as a taunt now I dont really mind the whole toixc behaviour in games I grew up playing cod online lobbies but still sometimes it is very annoying so They should make a change where you dont need to require the second player input to move on to the next opppenet or to go back to the main menu (Like in jumpforce).
Make a in game block feature to block players from being matched up with you in alot of games on ps4 at least when you block a player on psn you wont be able to play with them online this dosent apply to all games however like ones justice 2 a in game block feature could help both new players from being matched up with more experienced players and to avoid that one certain player you just wish the worst things upon.
(Another jumpforce thing to be added) being able to choose match ups based on internet connection. In the settings like in jumpforce make an option for if you want someone with good connection or minimum decent connection.
Mission mode changes.
If the player completed all missions including the extra ones they should then be able to choose which symbol they gain for completing certain missions and depending on the rarity can rather make the player pay a amount of coins the raises on rarity or change the difficulty of the mission based on rarity. Let's be honest we all want this so we can get that one cool symbol for our player card.
Checkpoint items. For the love of God let us be able to get items that works as checkpoints to be used once per mission so if we fail we start again at a checkpoint at 50% health or 30% so we dont have to start all over again
Ability to skip area destruction animation cycle. I just feel like it takes up more time then it really does and it gets annoying to sit through.
Arcade mode.
Completing the highest route should unlock all character cards and instantly checks off other routes as down on that character.
That's all the changes I wish to be put in the game feel free to tell me what you think or what you think should be added

Ps now performance issues?

I am playing on a ps4 pro. I have tried God of War HD yesterday but after 15 mins I just lost connection with the server. Before that I played with R&C: Quest for Booty and after 30 mins the games started to lag and due to the poor server connection or (something like that) I had to close the game. I didnt played with it since then. So is my BT internet too weak or is the ps servers sucks? What should I do?
I have heard that ps now requires good ping, right? But what is good ping means? I have tested BT internet on speedtest and its says my ping is 34 ms and the download speed is 64 Mbps.

PS+ version of Modern Warfare Remastered voided my Legacy Edition of Modern Warfare Remastered. What can I do?

In 2016, I bought Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition, it comes with a code for Modern Warfare Remastered (MWR). The IW disc is required to access MWR. I only bought the game for MWR not IW. When Playstation made MWR as a free game in March 2019, I download the PS+ version to avoid having to use the disc. I’ve since deleted the PS+ version and would like to use my original copy that I paid for. Im not always going to have PS+, however, I would like to play MWR, which I paid for, in the meantime.
When I load my copy into the PS4 and try to access MWR through the IW menu, it takes me to the Playstation store to purchase the game. I already bought this game though.
I cannot play MWR since it is shown as a PS+ game on my PS4 and the online store. My purchase has been overwritten. I cant launch the game b/c it just takes me to the store instead.
I’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps like restarting/signing out/restore licenses/power cycling/activate primary console etc. My legacy edition worked great until I download the PS+ version.
I’ve talked to multiple PS LiveChat representatives and nobody has given me a solution or seem to know what the hell Im talking about. I've asked them to revoke the PS+ license so I can try to launch from my disc without it recognizing as the PS+ version and they refuse to do that. I've been contacting Activision since September and have gotten no where. Nobody has provided actual resolution so Im coming here. Any ideas? Possible solutions? I paid $80 for this game and now I cant play. It's very frustrating.
Edit: Im going to include updates into the post to avoid digging the comment sections.

Update 1: I deleted the save and re-downloaded the game. It's still the PS+ version. I can confirm, the single-player progress does get wiped. Good news is, my FNG score still shows up.
Update 2: I made a brand new account. For offline, MWR didn't appear in the menu. I connected back to the internet and MWR appeared but it took me to the store page for the IW disc upgrade for whatever price it had. My main account takes me to the MWR page.
Update 3: Asked for them to revoke access w/o the backstory. Agent tells me it’s impossible for them to revoke access to the game and they cannot do it. Then later tells me the only way to revoke access to a game is to refund me the price of the PS+ version (a refund on nothing really) which will then revoke the license from my account.
I still see the game on my account and he tells me I have to wait for it to take effect.
I really don’t believe him but I’ll wait and see.
Update 4: They gave me a case number and sent my issues to their specialist or whatever they called it. I haven't received a response back and chat agents don't want to talk to me. In my experience, Playstation Support is absolutely useless.
Update 5 1/23/21: Never heard from Playstation and I highly doubt I will ever hear from them. That $0 refund the PS Chat Agent gave me did nothing at all. Mike R. from Activision Support has got back to me the other week and surprise, surprise, Mike R from Activision, doesn't know what to do either. A back and fourth and he last asked "what region Im in?". I never heard back.
Activision support is an absolutely useless bunch of people.
Playstation support is an absolutely useless bunch of people.

Main Scenario Related
YoRHa: Dark Apocalyse
  • There will be more emphasis on Nier elements for the continuation.
  • Starting the second tier will may cause the players to think: "Aren't we approaching the NieR:Automata territory already?"
  • The equipments for this tier are hinted by Yoshida to be the ones you see in their promotional image - the shadowy figures which 2P faces
  • No comments on whether we will be receiving them as a set in a box, or separately.
  • There will be no equipment rewards where everyone will need to roll for this time. (a.k.a the 2B dress reward equivalent)
  • The equipment rewards for this tier are done with the supervision of the NieR team with the design from FFXIV team, and they worked together to create the variation of equipments for all roles.
  • The equipment design for the third entry of YoRHa Dark Apocalypse is already done and is currently entering production. The good news is the devs aim to create those equipments to have more variation and pattern based on NieR's lore.
Patch 5.3 Trial
  • SECRET UNTIL THE PATCH IS RELEASED
  • Rewards will be weapons
Unreal Trials and Faux Hollows
  • The mechanics remained the same as it was first released.
  • The damage scaling and their HP for the boss are adjusted to fit the level 80 standard. They aim to make it feel the same as you first fought them back then.
  • Titan Unreal was initially planned to be included (for this patch) but if they release it too early it will end up traumatizing the players like what happened back then...
  • Rewards will be obtaining the rights to play the Faux Hollow minigame. The minigame will have mount and minion as rewards.
  • They know you will eventually end up getting bored of it if you repeat the same routine every week, therefore the bosses will be swapped after each patch.
Chronicles of a New Era - The Sorrow of Werlyt
  • Unfortunately, there is no 8-man trial for this patch
  • There will be a specialized battle content for this, and a huge one at that. Please look forward to it™️. It's described as a content that "contained all our dreams of a man of the era"
Ishgard Restoration
  • Scheduled to be released on Patch 5.31, which is 3 to 4 weeks after Patch 5.3
  • The ranking period specifics will be the same as before, lasting around 10 days.
  • The rewards are titles, but different from the previous. Scoring top ranking for the 2nd ranking period will net you the reward from that specific timeline.
Save The Queen and Southern Bozja Frontlines - Unforgiven, Unforgotten
  • Scheduled to be released 1.5 months after Patch 5.3, which is Patch 5.35
  • The scale of the content is larger than when Eureka first started.
  • You will have a separate leveling system called the "Resistance Rank". You can level up them easily through solo. There is nothing that forces you to have a party for it
  • There will be actions that are specific ONLY to Southern Bozja frontline available for use, based on the feedback from Eureka. The actions are called "Lost Actions"
  • You have a specific goal this time - "To destroy the enemy's fort"
  • You get to join both "skirmishes" and "critical engagement". Each skirmish end with a battle report, which, depending on how you perform you get more rank points. Both contents will take place within Southern Bozja and it triggers all the time.
  • The skirmish side is basically joining an operation, which has the same system as FATE, where everyone can freely join to accumulate battle points. The rate of it happening is high.
  • "Critical Engagement" is a new event type battle that is developed specifically for Southern Bozja Frontline. A) There are conditions to trigger them, and it's mostly about the Garlean Empire launching an assault at you and your allies. B) You can queue for it anywhere within the area and players will be selected randomly by the system if the minimum capacity to join the content is reached. C) There are items where you can obtain them that grants you the priority to join the content, and players who contributed to the item obtain within the party will be given priority to enter as well. D) Once all conditions are met, the group will be brought into an instance and conduct battle from there.
  • Objectives can range from "Destroy the large type weapon" to "Defeat the large scale army"
  • Think of it like a boss battle content that requires 24 to 48 players to gather and defeat.
  • There is also a bonus content where if you score excellent results in this "Critical Engagement" event battle, you get to initiate a one-on-one duel with the "the enemy general". Do note that only one will get to participate. YoshiP described that as "rather than say...one man Savage, it's more of a one man Ultimate?"
  • Since it's a one-on-one battle, the other players can only cheer from the sidelines.
  • The one-on-one duel may be easy for players who are extremely battle oriented.
  • Baldesion Arsenal equivalent large scale content will be implemented on patch 5.4. The dev team aims to create a new system that makes it more accessible after taking in opinions from the players. There will be two difficulties planned for the content. The content doesn't require much pre-preparation and is created as a large scale content where everyone gets to participate.
  • To upgrade your Resistance Weapon, there will be quests prepared for it. You can upgrade them purely by going through quests from the beginning.
  • There are 2 methods to upgrade your weapon. You can upgrade them purely by going through story quest as mentioned above, or you can do the skirmishes and obtain the necessary items from there too.
  • How it works: The necessary items to upgrade your weapon and the conditions will be presented to you. You can also obtain these items from OUTSIDE Southern Bozja areas as well. However, when the interviewer asks if the item obtain is something like obtainable through doing Atma Light farming, YoshiP answered "We can't tell you anything for now but....probably something similar..."
  • Since the items can also be obtained through outside Southern Bozja, you are free to raise your weapon at your own pace.
  • No elements will be involved for Southern Bozja
Gathering/Crafting and Item Related
  • There will be 8 new Umbrellas. Obtainable through Ishgard Restoration and Southern Bozja Frontlines. Some of the umbrellas are eastern (Japanese) themed too.
  • Skysteel Tools upgrade will be implemented on patch 5.35
  • New Crafter and Gatherer equipments will be implemented for Patch 5.3. Purely ilevel increase.
  • At patch 5.3, the pentamelded equipments will be superior to the Skysteel Tools.
  • There will be a new category called "Fashion Items" and the new items (attachments) will be added like how new Umbrellas are implemented. Though currently still at the planning stage, you get to, for example, hug a teddy bear while walking. This is meant to be a new system made for Role players to enjoy.
New Beast Tribe Quests - the Dwarfs
  • The quests will be done through Lakeland
  • Mount will be rewards

When Japan declared the COVID-19 emergency, S-E had to halt the development for 2 weeks (or is forced to, considering the emergency). During the first 2 weeks, Devs who are savvier at PC were first given laptops and attempted to work from home, and controlled their work PC through remote desktop but due to their network spec at home being not as good as their office equivalent, and when using DCC Tools (graphics type tool for development use) to develop their game, they managed to only get around 5 - 15 FPS when working, making the development really hard to conduct - like how the mouse reaction speed being awfully slow or rotating the model will cause them to freeze a bit and ended up over-rotating the model, causing massive irritations and so on. The difficulty of development through laptops and many other issues prompted them to bring their development PC (from office) back home, which the company agreed after further discussions. Some devs had to call for delivery to have their work PC delivered to home throughout the process, but there are also other companies doing the same thing by requesting delivery service to help moving work PC to home, and this created delays because of the demand, taking a lot more time than it should.
After setting up work PC at home, they'll need to use VPN that is created specifically for S-E development use. The FFXIV infrastructure team had to spend time setting up a specific VPN system due to token restrictions and set it up to allow access only for those who are involved in FFXIV development. This whole process took them about a month to settle, and most of the time they couldn't work on the game even if they want to.
Other issues including setting up the manual on internet connections, advising the staff members on which IP type to use (IPV4 or IPV6) when working, conducting surveys on how much electric usage have they used since working from home, et cetra all took time to iron out. On top of that, a lot of the staff members working in the QA and debugging team are part-time workers, which makes bringing PC back home especially hard to do. Therefore the company had no choice but to allow access to the QA team to work on the game at S-E but the QA staff members had to maintain a 2m distance from each other when working to ensure the social distancing rules set by the government is being adhered to. This also took time to realize, which also contributed to the delays.
Currently, the development speed is running at around 90 to 95% compared to their development speed in office. The schedule for patch update now return to its normal pace but YoshiP cannot deny that the process to set up working from home did take a lot of time to realize.
Hence, there is an important note to this: Considering the situation, this will also delay the release for the next expansion as well. BUT now that they managed to finally get a hold of their schedule already, the delay will be a few months at best, and will NOT take up to 6 months or a year.
As for Fanfest, there is no saying that the Japan and EU Fanfest will proceed as normal. There WILL be updates to this during mid-July, and if situations have developed to a point where we need to be updated, we'll be informed of it. Online-only Fanfest is also under consideration
The next Ultimate difficulty is already under production, but there is currently another huge thing under development right now, so the devs are taking the whole stance of "let's get them done quickly so that we can rest in ease" right now because they don't want anything that affects their future plans
There is nothing YoshiP can provide regarding the plans for PS5 right now but considering the plan to migrate users from PS3 to PS4 had been smooth sailing, he hoped the same procedure can be done without hiccups. Once YoshiP had all plans settled and ready, he'll make an announcement.
There are also many requests about rerunning the FFXV Collab event so the team is thinking maybe it'd be a good idea to. But this will require them to know when to slot them in because there are other seasonal events underway too.
That should be it. Feel free to comment if there is anything I missed.

Is it possible to play cool games with shitty internet?

Hi! I’m rephrasing my question as I didn’t do a good job with my problem on my first post.
My son is 12 and is very interested in gaming. I never got good at any other game than Dr. Mario on the original NES.
My kid wants a gaming laptop, but I don’t think he understands that some games require an internet connection. We live in the middle of nowhere and will never have a good internet connection. I get 8mbps on a good day.
We have Apple products (quite old) and a chrome book for work. We also have a PS4 that is on its last legs due to heavy use.
What would be a good game for a kid in our situation, and and what devices would he need for said game? My husband plays Skyrim and Witcher, and my boy likes watching those games but obviously they aren’t something he is ready to play.

Playing nothing but bots

My partners dad plays on PS4 and as the title suggests he's been playing nothing but bots since the big 6.0 update came out. For context he doesn't have PS+ and never has had it because it wasn't needed for WoT.
I've given him all the usual advice that normally sorts this stuff (log out of PSN and log back in, reinstall the game, check the internet connection) and nothing has changed. Neither WG or Sony pipelines have provided any help and "advice" from them is simply "there is no problem with the service" and they don't even attempt to help him troubleshoot if it's an obscure issue.
I've never ran into a problem like this as I'm a PC player and can't offer him anymore useful advice. Has anyone experienced anything similar and has a fix, or is it as simple as WoT now requires PS+ and he was never informed?
EDIT: Crossplay was oddly disabled, even though I remember him playing crossplay prior to 6.0.

Play your consoles from anywhere

Xbox One S
within steam: Games>add a non steam game to your librarytarget= "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe"Launch options= /C "explorer.exe shell:appsFolder\Microsoft.XboxApp_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.XboxApp && pause"
Playstation 4within steam: Games>add a non steam game to your libraryTarget "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\PS4 Remote Play\RemotePlay.exe"
All you need on your phone is a ps4 controller(ps4 only) or corded xbox controller(even 360 one works) and an OTG connector and of course Steam Link App on an Phone/Tablet/PC/Laptop etc
once you've got all that sorted to get it working remotely from absolutely anywhere you only need to get two bits of software, OpenVPN to setup your own VPN to trick Steam Link into thinking you're at home and virtual here usb which effectively tells your computer that the controller you've plugged into your phone is actually plugged into your computer, this is required to launch PS4 Remote play but isn't required for Xbox One as steam emulates an xbox controller perfectly and it just works by default (microsoft doesn't check the type of controller) some debug tools to use to start off with are just anything like teamviewer so you can remote in and close windows/swap windows if required as steamlink doesn't always do what you'd think.
you will also require fairly decent internet speed on both ends (phone and home) I recommend at least 25+mbit upload speed at home for 60fps 1080p and at least 25+mbit on your phone, works better when your phone is on wifi as it has far less stutter lag.
highly reccomend if you are doing this to have both your xbox and ps4 connected to your modem via ethernet cable not wireless, ps4 remote play is unplayable over wireless by default within your own home the xbox does work via wifi but is still way more solid going by ethernet.

I played a bunch of games in 2020. Here are my thoughts on each.

If any of you have played some of the same games I have, I'd love to hear about your experiences!
GAMES I FINISHED (Note: I am not a completionist, so 'finished' is relative)
GAMES I STARTED BUT DID NOT FINISH
GAMES THAT I DABBLED IN/GAMES THAT ARE NEVER "FINISHED"
tl;dr
Half Life Alyx wins my personal pick for Game of the Year, although if I were to be totally objective, I think Hades deserves it the most. I would give Final Fantasy VII Remake a very close runner-up. And the Nintendo Switch may be my favorite console of all time.

The Nintendo Switch port of Genshin Impact is most likely dead for now. [see inside]

The Nintendo Switch port of Genshin Impact is most likely dead for now. [see inside]
So I was inspired by my own comment on whether or not the NX will get a port of our favorite dopamine addiction and I went and looked up the technical reasons on whether or not it will happen. There's also other reasons that aren't as likely but still a possibility, I listed them for completion's sake.

Abbreviations used:
NX = Nintendo Switch
NSO = Nintendo Switch Online
RAM = best girl
GB = Ganyu's Butt
UI = Unfunny Idiot, OP

Before I go into why, I'm just going to give a verdict right now: Genshin is currently unplayable by Nintendo and miHoYo's standards on the current model of the NX and if a new model is released it will be on that. This is most likely the only reason it hasn't been released yet.

5.5 Reasons Why
The Hardware Aspect:
The biggest issue is the one that cannot be overcome with clever programming unless you're the wealthiest tech company on the planet.
topkek, that specific battery is a diy bomb in waiting
The NX has a whopping (/s) 4 GB of RAM. Of those 4 GB, only ~3.8 are actually usable by games/applications due to system processes.
For reference, the iPhone 8 and lower use a total of 3.5 GB of 4 GB of RAM but can only get away with it due to Apple's black magic in regards to iOS 11 and even then there are crashes every 30-45 minutes. Nintendo does not have Apple's level of talent when it comes to software and hardware harmony.
4 GBs are the bare minimum requirement to run Genshin Impact on devices with mobile oriented OSes. The NX's OS is a heavily modified version of Samsung's brand of Android. u/Uzephi13 provided a link towards Horizon, NX OS.
>tfw pc isn't master race for once
i'm still on iphone 7 ;_;
Those of us who play on phones with the bare minimum of RAM can attest to crashes and overheating. The NX is known to occasionally overheat when playing in handheld mode if the game being played is graphics intense despite downgrades in resolution.
There is also another issue mobile players can attest to and that is lag. Genshin Impact can be really laggy on mobile sometimes due to not having a wired connection.
Those of us who play games that use NSO can go into long winded tirades over the Q U A L I T Y that is Nintendo's online services.
"Well, we can deal with some lag, right OP?"
No, we can't actually. The NX's wifi card is located right under the vent for the system's fan. All of the NX's lag issues are due to a hardware concession resulting from that slim shell everyone loves. And the overheating issues will only make it worse.
And yes, I am aware that f2p games have free internet access on NX.
For context in regards to overall system strength, the PS4 is slightly stronger (51/49, PS4's favor) than the NX and it can just barely run the game.

The Fluff Aspect:
MiHoYo has zero experience with the NX and the stupidity that is getting JoyCons (w/ motion control) to work with games. Problems include easy use and integration into gameplay, if desired or required by Nintendo. Other homebrewers and or even devs can comment on this more than I can, but its confusing and frustrating from what I've read.
Why do I mention this? miHoYo has only ever reformatted controls for WASDm1, mobile touchscreen, and PS4/5 controllers. Nintendo will most likely force ergonomic control mapping onto miHoYo as not everyone owns a pro-controller ($80, why?) nor wants to play in handheld 24/7 (1080p -> 720p/480i).

The Software Aspect:
Unity...Unity, Unity, Unity.... I hate this game engine with a passion. Games that run it are almost always a mess in regards to stability due to its simplicity (in devs screwing things up) and memory leak issues.
In all likelihood, you probably can't even start the game up on the NX without a crash 10 minutes or so into the opening sequence without the system aborting active processes for hardware safety reasons.

The Political Aspect:
Tencent is Nintendo's proxy in China. Everything released there has to go through them (yay, corruption and hyper nationalism). Tencent has stolen assets from miHoYo before so I'm sure they still have animosity. I wouldn't put it past the CCP's bitch to block release in China and therefore block a potential global release.
There is also a possibility that Sony has exclusivity for a year or two due to bigger pockets. (more likely)

The Consumer Protection Aspect:
Genshin's pulls are expensive and Nintendo has blocked some gacha games before for being too pricey.

Summary:
When/if there's a new NX, Genshin might be on it as a launch f2P game. For now, its highly unlikely Nintendo will allow it to be released in the NX's current state.
