I’m headed off to university in september and currently I’m using a natural Epiphone Casino Coupe; an absolutely beautiful hollow-body that I love dearly however I really want to move on and get myself a solid-body guitar. I’ve cemented that I want to get a Fender made guitar as the ones I have tried out I feel that Fender pleases me best, and from that I came to my two favourite; a MIM Fender Mustang in Olympic White or an all black Modern Player Fender Telecaster. I’ve come here to get peoples opinions on what they think of these two beautiful instruments and which you people like best, and if you have used them what your positives and gripes you can give towards the guitars !

I recently impulse bought a Bigsby B7 for my Casino Coupe, and while installing it I decided to take the gloss finish down to a more satin feel, as I'm not really a fan of the candy-like polyurethane finish that comes from the factory.
The process was very simple, and I'd done it before to an Epiphone SG. After removing all hardware, I used a mesh attachment to an orbital sander (you can do it by hand with a scouring pad, but the random nature of the sander's movements reduces the swirl pattern and makes polishing easier) and made sure to get a good, even coverage to reduce any shiny spots. After roughly 2-3 hours of this, I used T-Cut automotive scratch remover on a lint free cloth to bring the guitar back to the level of shine that I desired. The neck feels silk to the touch, and I think the satin gives it a nice vintage vibe that I'd have never achieved with play-wear alone on that plastic finish.
The Bigsby installation was very simple, once I'd lined it up with some string to make sure it was centre, I only had to drill a few pilot holes to mount it.
Restrung it with some D'addario flatwound 11s (thought I'd try something new and heard that heavier strings reduce the tuning stability issues a Bigsby can have - I usually use half-round 10s) and I love it. It's like getting a new guitar!
Eventually, I'll upgrade the electronics, and add vintage tulip style tuners to it. I may have to add a roller bridge too, but for now, I'm happy!
